Been about 3 years since I painted my garage floor with the Grey Epoxy Kit W/Flakes:
IMG_0305-1.jpg

A lot of wear/tear on this floor in the last few years with everything from rear-end changes to a lot of welding & burn marks.
Since The Grey speckled floor is hard to touch-up & match, I decided to re-do the floor using a solid colored epoxy coating.
I prepped the floor by roughing-up/sanding the existing epoxy finish.

A rented floor sander from Home Depot , my wife took over for the final finishing sanding.

I also added some anti-skid / gripping compound to the new epoxy.

What more appropriate color than: 'Ford Blue'

Looks great John - let's do my carbon fiber driveshaft now! :)

I finally received word my custom color chips arrived!! Hopefully in next few weeks I’ll have a floor! Here’s the colors with a 15’x6’ decal to be put in center, I can finally clean this mess up! Lol I think the red will look nice with the new addition, my 500!

Well thought I’d share my long pain in the ass journey to my dream garage here in nyc since my 2020 R is on the way for spring/ early summer - dealing with the city from a legal aspect is a real pain, but from friends who built their garages illegally and had to deal with the consequences due to having buildings come from “unanimous” complaints, (cough cough neighbors) I decided to just do everything the right way-
We moved into to our very nice 1st house in sept. Being the new people on the block the last thing I want to do is rattle up my neighbors even though they all seem awesome anyway moving on- So my pre existing garage is currently 10x20x12
And termites had its way with it to say the least- so being that my wife knows how OCD crazy I am with my cars/motorcycles and detailing equipment a fanatic to say the least, she broke my arm to spend the money and finally have my very own dream garage- I’m currently about 95% finished with the check list of things I had to do in order to get started as per my architect : (most of them so ridicules and by all means I don’t agree with but hey this is the “legal way” and beats pretty Hefty fines)
Boring test, property survey, asbestos test, and finally applying for all the permits-
Currently ......

Once we get the green light we will demo everything- add a nice slab with above requirements for a four post 9000lb rated bendpak lift- the dimensions will be 22’ deep 19’ wide 15’ in height -

Thankfully I have a little bit of a hook with my general contractor and will be able to save a lot of money with this project so I won’t be skimping on anything- we sat and talked about different construction features and I decided to go with cinderblock walls- I will be upgrading the electric panel, and so far I’m looking into dif. Products for 1. Lighting
2. Garage opener (also to accommodate clearance for the lift)
3. Cabinets
4. Flooring
5. AC/heat unit
I have a hose outside 10’ away from the garage so I’m on the fence about putting in a slop sink (with heated water) but I really don’t think it will be necessary- if I’m that dirty I can just go in the house, but your opinions or personal experiences will be appreciated things you wished you done or didn’t do etc. )
Here are some of the products I’ve been looking at after living on YouTube for the last 4 months.
( Lighting ) rem. Detailing is a hobby and while I don’t do it professionally I do want a proper set up as far as
heat/AC unit

Of course for me this will be a good foundation in order to see my vision on what I expect my dream garage to look like- feel free to jump in with your experience, suggestions or any other recommendations! Thanks everyone !

^^^^ Awesome, good for you. If you can afford the space, do the sink. Can always have a fold-down counter that turns the sink area into extra counter space if needed.

Throwing out to you from a farmers perspective to look into heated floor & ceiling fans that are on a rheostat. Do some research on youtube & use 'farm shop' as a key word & think you would be amazed at some of these shops.
