Is this like the X4 where you get so many unlocks or do you have to pay SCT to unlock it since its been used?

So from what i gather you have 4 unlocks left, meaning you can use it on 4 more vehicles before it needs to be unlocked by SCT. This and this page have some info


I only used it on my old 2001 mustang, i unpaired the device when i sold the car.
