If this is it... IMO 3 steps backwards. IMO the 18+ refresh was great. Why would you go from sleek svelte lines to sharp and boxy... Makes no sense.

Yes, the current style is going to be tough to one up. But lets see the actual cars.

Please tell me that scoop on the hood has some functionality. If not why? At least the current S550 the vents were heat extractors.

For me the S550 is the best looking mustang ever, aside from the 69, but both the 15-17 and 18-23 look awkward from a few angles (different ones from each I think). This image represents a bad angle of a 7g. If the rest of the car is like this it’s going to be Fords 2019 Camaro.

agree on the 18+ being the best ever. i just dont see how you can improve on it. these renders to me look like a camaro and a kia stinger reproduced. bleh.
I like the black Bullitt best of the S550s, then 15-17 then 18+ then the rest of mustangdom (besides the 69 of course). But to each their own.

I think it looks like a modern version of the original S197 (05-09), which is NOT one of my favorite Mustangs. I loved the 2010 refresh, though many did not. We will see.
That's what I see in it as well, and I have the same feelings about that car. Hopefully the real deal will look better, but what we've "seen" so far isn't getting my hopes up.

Could not agree more. The obsession/revived popularity of the fox body is probably fueling this unfortunately. I thought those were the worst mustang years besides the II of course (not even counting Mach E because that is not a Mustang and utter shit). If I am being honest, I preferred the Camaro/Firebird body style in those years.

Amen. I probably preferred the 2015-2017 front end a little bit over the standard 18 refresh, but S550 has been arguably the absolute best Mustang design...maybe just slightly behind the 69. The Gt350/500/Mach 1 front end designs were incredible.

Neither I nor any of us know what the ‘24 is really gonna look like but I don’t believe it or any subsequent Mustang will ever surpass the S550 in beauty. I don’t see how it would be possible. Yes, I’m biased but I did put my money where my mouth is.

Here we go again..............no love for a new generation of Mustang.

At first, the S550 in 2015 was a Fusion.

Then the '18 refresh was a catfish.

Both those version of S550 soon become "the best looking Mustang ever".

Give it time and S650 will soon be loved by most.

So for discussion purposes....

What has been leaked as far as actual photos (not renders or photoshop magic), the S650 exterior looks like all Ford Designers are doing is re-using a S550 "body in white" and changing only the rear bumper cover/valance/tails and front fender/hood/bumper cover/headlights.

I just don't think the S650 will be this "huge win" that everyone expects and definitely not with the current configuration of a Knight Rider/Truck-like interior....

Here's the bigger questions:
- Has Ford QC improved ANY? We're still hearing of S550's coming off the line 7 years after its initial introduction with multiple problems - problems that should have been ironed out and resolved after years 1-2 of production.

- Has the multiple engine and trans issues been resolved? Sure we're only seeing the community here posting of those issues, but on a grand scale, if the issues exist here, they also exist outside this forum that we don't hear or read about.

To me - if we're talking an "S650", that is supposed to be a major change, I'd expect an entirely new body shell, not a continuation of an already existing body shell and chassis. Not just changing end caps and throwing a different dash in it.

Then the recent news that it *might* be pushing 500hp.... but we all know the story of them reducing the 2022 Coyote by 10hp (nothing to sneeze at).... now we're hearing they can get it close to 500? So why reduce 2022 HP to begin with, did something change with the regulations?

Lastly...
Is the Buyer of an S650 really going to be getting more Mustang for their money - or will the S550 still be a good performance bargain for the buck? If the S650 exterior/interior visual appeal isn't there, any drivetrain improvements won't mean anything to what was a potential buyer who walks.

While I'm still speculative of the reveal and also hoping it will look different (better), I think I've seen everything there is to see based on the last few months of the actual photo leaks.
