I’m not a rumor person. Could we see a lighter steel or aluminum body? Could a hybrid and electric bring AWD? I’ve heard rumors from decently reputable people the S650 will be 200-300lbs lighter than current model in gas only form, or at least one variation of the car will be light weighted. Weight savings for hybrids and EVs would be negated by batteries.
I think the lastest rumor was that S650 is going to CD6 platform. If that's true I doubt there will be a huge weigth saving since the car would grow bigger
But I also heard that S650 could stay on the same platform as S550, which would also mean no huge weigth savings.

Somebody will be in trouble for this linkedin entry

Especially with the 2nd refresh for MY2021 buyers shoulld really be aware that they could get a whole new Mustang generation two years later
Doesn't surprise me in the least - especially with the MACHE blunder where their IT Dept left up a live link to the entire Sales Literature and ordering information days before the actual live release...

If Ford were a Company dealing in high level secrecy about their products that the competition and public shouldn’t have insight to, well.... they’ve failed multiple times.

Or the time they accidentally used the 5.2 predator CAD files for the GT350 wiring diagrams a full YEAR before the predator was announced....

I m hoping for weight savings. Make the rear seat area even smaller (adults can’t fit anyway), shrink the car a little, and give us a fourth generation 500 hp NA V8 mustang gt. By the time S650 is out, camaro will be on the lt2 and lt5 engines.

That’s the 2021 Focus Wagon.

that’s really the damn MACH “SHE”.... it goes well with the MACHE lineup... they just don’t have the pony on it yet

Correct.....and this was from an interview with Ford when they announced there would only be 5 "architectures" going forwards:

Mustang is still going to be a strong, well-proportioned vehicle," said chief designer Darrell Behmer. "The modular architectures will still give us flexibility; it's not going to bastardize Mustang." Considering that the 2020 Ford Explorer and 2020 Lincoln Aviator will ride on the CD6 platform, the S650 Mustang is up for electrification as well.

This was back in August '18 though......so its entirely possible that's changed and S650 will just be a heavily reworked S550.

  • Commercial van unibody
  • Body-on-frame
  • Battery-electric vehicle

Our Mustangs have always been 2+2's. The seats are fine for small folks. No sense even having them if they are made smaller. And then it wouldn't be a 2+2.

By the time the S650 comes out there will not be a Camaro.

I want a mustang the size of a BRZ. That two is a 2+2 with a rear seat about as useable as the mustang but is almost 2ft shorter and 600lbs lighter....
