They seem to be running behind prototyping schedule due to covid-19 and probably still 21-24 months away from launch. This might be a late fall/winter 2022-23 launch.

My question is, will Ford be ready run the S650 prototypes out the gate as soon as they are first hand-assembled (like S550 in 2013) or are they gonna hide them like the Bronco and Ranger were hidden on proving grounds and night runs for 8 months?

LOOOOOOOL!!!!!

I absolutely disagree. I dislike misinformation and clickbait intensely, but the info is correct. But yeah, I generally dislike Ford Authority.

Thanks for saving me the time it would have taken to read it.

At least they put Mach 1 HP wheels on it. Wonder if that was needed for space? Smaller might not fit.

Yeah, if you look closely at the front wheel, it appears there is quite big brake rotor setup at the front.
The dark, "shadowy-looking" gap around the polished-looking rotor hub almost look similar to Ford's proprietary 2-piece used in GT350/GT500.
It also appears to have a large swept rotor face area, compared to say today's PP Brake setup.

On another note, I disagree what they said in the article about the prototype using "Mach 1 front splitter and side splitters." They just look like a normal 18-20 front bumper and splitters.
The Mach 1 bumper has entirely different geometry and the splitter wont fit.

Not a fan of the rims either.
All wheel drive should be entertaining. These cars are already overweight.

Seems like prototype spotting is getting started now. Will be interesting when the actual reveal will take place, if I remember correctly Ford usally goes for a very late reveal in the pre-year of production start, I think S550 reveal was on December 2013?

Having AWD when going Hybrid seems really plausible, so this brake setup makes sense. C8 also has a leading rear brake caliper setup, when though no AWD model is announced yet. So overall I wouldn't read too much into it for the moment

That is exciting, after driving my wifes AWD sporty sedan (2017 Infiniti Q50 3.0t), I want an AWD Mustang. I will probably wait and see if is offered with a v8 or hybrid before settling for a RWD GT in 2022. Hope the information comes out in early 2022 and not late 2022.

I'm really hoping those brakes make it to production. About time the Mustang had stopping power and multi-piston rear calipers!
