If that is a GT500 that we will see in the future… The front is amazing… well designed in deed.

^^ Need to see some new spy shots :ninja:
Anything about the Mustang or Camaro in C&D/R&T comes from Hearst Publishing.

Anything that comes from anything Hearst Pub is probably stuff you've already heard/seen before in speculation.

Two major stories:

The GT500 is coming this year

The "Z/28" has been pushed back to MY2020 or for the 7th Gen.

(See you in 30 days!!!)

I have a good feeling ford will debut the car in the fall or as late as the 2018 Detroit show AS a late 2018 MY car. Probably build a thousand of them for 18 and then 5,000 each for '19 and '20.

That ain't gonna be what the gt500 looks like. I see a larger grill and a more aggressive look. What is displayed looks like a striped GT

I think it will be revealed after the Demon hp figures are released, especially the street mode number. Ford knows what the ZL1 figures are and will leap over both of them. Doubt if they will worry about the Demons track mode hp number.

A Ecoboost V8 with a single Twin Scroll Turbo can make nearly 700hp displacing between 5.0-5.4 liters. A supercharged 5.0-5.4 could make around 675hp with PDI. An Ecoboost V8 displacing 5-5.4 liters that used either a Twin/Bit or Sequential/Staged could make around 810hp w/ PDI.

FoMoCo (as well as the forums) knew Dodge was increasing the Hellcats output. At 800, no pushrods engine could make that and still be reasonable in the limiting areas like EPA and MPG's.

There is a good chance we see a regular Ecoboost V8 in a Mustang... but until the Camaro and Challenger are gone, they are trying to end this fight before the decades over.

why off-load

Leaking will continue throughout the year with the unvail at the Detroit auto show beginning of next year. Car shows up in showrooms 4th quarter of 2018 for 2019/2020 MY car. IMO.

Mid-2018, lots of GT350 owners begin to offload their cars to chase the next greatest thing.

All is on schedule.
The GT 350 is a road course pony, why off-load for a drag car? My buddy is waiting patiently.

Because it won't be a drag car. It'll be an all around performer, like the zl1.
I won't be unloading the 350 for it. The 350 is NA and has a FPC. It's a different animal.
I may get it in addition to the 350 tho

Wasn't the last GT500 more of a sledgehammer? I read several reviews of how that chassis was not up to the task of taming power output. Really, I'm only interested to watch and see if they make any factory performance parts that could be adapted to the GT.

It was MORE of a sledgehammer yes, but it was also a capable track car. This is why it had a "track pack" option. Most of them were made that way. It made better track times than the boss 302 of the time. Shorter more twisty tracks were better for the boss.
The IRS is gone now... it will have comparable goodies to the 350.. with 225 more hp.

Certainly early (07-09) S197 GT500 was a bit of a blunt instrument but, like every Mustang before it, it improved year on year. The '10MY saw improved suspension (with the facelift).....the '11MY introduced the aluminium block for improved weight distribution and it all gelled perfectly with the '13/'14 models with the bonkers 662hp and even more dialled in suspension.

However, I think we'd all agree there was only so much a solid rear axle was going to be able to cope with in terms of chassis finesse.

To me, the '13/'14 will go down as the last of the "old school" Muscle Mustangs.

I'm expecting the '19/'20 GT500/Halo-Stang to be as track capable as a GT350, but with enough horses to make the '13/'14 GT500 feel underpowered :ford:
