Well considering the 2017 model year is just about over, no spy shots of a GT500, and no credible information from anywhere yet, I don't see it happening.

If Car and Driver says the GT500 is coming before the end of the year, I am believing they received some information from Ford. You watch, later in the year other magazines will have information as to what engine will be in the GT500. I think Ford is slowly leaking some information about the next GT500.

considering that the rendering has 2018 headlights, and the stock 2018 gt spoiler, with a bumper that we have never seen, and claims to be a 2017, id doubt any validity.

Seeing that Ford releases MYs halfway through the previous CY, they could be referring to "when" its available. Or they expect Ford to pull a MY 2017 special run like they did with the GT350.

But honestly, I think if the rumors are true and Ford has been working on a GT500, I think it will come out at the end of 2018 as a either an 2018 or 2019. But even then the next Mustang is supposed to be coming in 2020 so that would only be a 2 year run on this platform.

yeah, its a shit show all around. i wouldnt expect the gt500 to run more than 2 years, and i wouldnt think they would run a gt350 and gt500 at the same time, which makes sense with your timing at the end of 2018. but honestly ive given up my hopes for a halo car, because with the camaro, hellcat, and demon, ford has some pretty big shoes to fill if they try to do what they did with the last gt500.

I CAN see a GT350 and GT500 at the same time, as long as the price points remain separate and there is a easily identifiable difference (i.e. NA GT350 vs FI GT500)

Remember the GT350 more or less replaced the boss and that was being sold along side of the 662HP GT500.

good point, and hey, id love to see them both on showroom floors, just like it was in 67. its just frustrating being in the dark from ford, while the greatest muscle car hp war in history is unfolding and im sitting here twiddling my thumbs :kickrock:

Leaking will continue throughout the year with the unvail at the Detroit auto show beginning of next year. Car shows up in showrooms 4th quarter of 2018 for 2019/2020 MY car. IMO.

Mid-2018, lots of GT350 owners begin to offload their cars to chase the next greatest thing.

All is on schedule.

Interesting. All though part of me hopes they ditch the Shelby GT500 name and go back to Cobra but with SVT being gone I know that's probably not going to happen

I am afraid the next GT500 will be built in very limited numbers and sell for 70 plus thousands of dollars. The GT350 will continue to be sold for those who can not afford a GT500.

A limited number of 2017.5's could be sold as late as December and still qualify as a MY2017. Just as the 2016 GT350 ran an initial 137 cars for 2015.5 prior to release. Expect the low number of 2017.5's to be gone before we even hear they are making them...

Not sure if the KR Package will be available in 2017... 2018 is more likely.

The recent renders Ive seen are probably real close to the real thing. The GT500 was their baby and I think everyone got what they wanted.

Not to mention Ford's Communications guy offering a suggestive photo of the GT500 dash.
