Previously, I mentioned a GT500, Heritage Edition, 1:64 scale would be arriving in Aug/Sep. It is now being stocked by several vendors.

The model is available in overseas (box only), and US (plastic shell and placard) versions. I'm also seeing some chase cars for sale.

In the coming weeks, more vendors still will begin advertising their stocks.

The model and the packaging show well. The MiJo, Mini GT GT500 series has produced several 500s in great color combos, with chases for several.

If you can't afford the real thing, it's next best. It's especially entertaining to push the car around and make motor sounds while at the office. Your co-workers will love that. :giggle:

There are not many verts out there. Not a lot to choose from. Of the tens of thousands of Mustang diecasts available at any given time, I think I did find one you might like.

Using your profile photo as a reference, I did some searches on eBay.
Thanks for the reply and indication of sources for a 2018 S550 GT Red Vert. I will order one of those.

Just as a matter of interest, the profile picture is of my wife with our first Mustang convertible, a new 1996 GT 5-speed:

Our current one is a black 2022 GT Premium:

I ran some updated searches. Looks like you might be able to get one of each.

The wheels are bronze on the black vert. You could buy one, to keep in the package, while getting a second and painting those rims black with a fine brush.

Attached are photos of a project I've been meaning to get to for a while: model storage and later shipment.

When I stop driving, the die casts are to follow the car. I wanted to have something at-the-ready that would be easy to assemble, protecting the models and memorabilia while in storage or transit.

The 12-gallon containers are cheap, plentiful and non-transparent, with holes in the top to put a small lock or tie wrap through. The tubs are large enough for a good number of models, but not so large they're difficult to deal with in size or weight.

Complimenting that, wrapping paper, in this instance, painter's paper. Light, semi-waxed; this will protect the items from rubbing and marking one another. For the die casts that have a delicate cardboard placard, I'm cutting actual cardboard to fit across the back.

For labels, printing labels. The "fragile" stickers can be bought on eBay or Etsy. I'll affix some to the containers.

I've been collecting 1:64 scale models since last year. My estimate is that four of these containers will comfortably hold 100 items. For the heavier kit and memorabilia, I'll get a fifth container of a smaller size.

Previously, I thought of blister pack covers, those clear clam shells that fit over most die cast packaging. But I feel those rub against the very thing you're protecting. The solution I came up with is cheaper, lighter, allows for UV-protected storage and later shipment.

Good idea. Hopefully you’re not done driving for a while though! Unless I missed something posted elsewhere?

Sorry, I should have clarified that. No, no plans to stop driving. Thanks :like:for asking though. :fistbump:.

While I don't expect to part with anything for a good, long while, I'm practical like that. Easier to face "the pile" :giggle: when I've already got the solution waiting, versus coming up with an idea, going out, buying the pieces, etc. And in the mean time, I can stow or protect some items while rotating things around as I like.

Glad to hear you’re not hanging it up for a while! Good planning on your part. My son will get all my diecast cars whenever I become worm food (which is hopefully a good long while from now).

I don’t do Facebook (but my misses does), and this popped up on the U.K. mustang group, from Walmart :

Most die casts are manufactured in Asia. I've been seeing multiple S650 and GTD prototypes for some time, mostly from a Malaysian dealer. Not unusual; that's their business. Some are really cool, but the shipping costs can be prohibitive.

Attached is what appears to be the first GTD shelf model, ready for the stores. Currently listed in Malaysia, I'd expect to see this one and others in the US soon.

Edit,

If wanting something a bit more exclusive, modeling prototypes, something they use for measurement and scanning, become available from time-to-time. The following site has several.

From your link ... :sunglasses:

Just on Hot Wheels and not mustang related (although I will keep my eye out for a Mustang version), I picked this up for my brother as part of his Christmas present :

IMG_5137.jpg

It's an all metal and unpainted key ring :sunglasses:

The other part of his Christmas present that I have fully refurbished for him - it's from 1981, and his favorite car from when we were kids (I had the matching silver one) :

Yes, he's a Porsche guy ... lol

That's really cool. I searched and noticed the white one with blue striping as well. Nice.
