Follow up to the dyno with drag strip comparison
Ran the 2015/Hellion car same day as the 18 /Gen 5 whipple .

My mechanic is pretty cool and drove one of the cars to the track along with his wife and toddler!

It was hot and humid and first real shake down passes of the year …. times are nothing to write home about and both cars can obviously go faster in cooler air / with lower 60’s and when /if i get the shifting/time figured out on the 18

I had made a pass earlier this month when it was cooler with the Hellion car but a coupler blew off after the 1/8 .

18/gen 5 whipple /10r80 (with extra clutches /steels)has PBD second gear tune (3.15 rear ) . I was not really thrilled with the way the car was shifting (shifting at 6900) .

Hellion car has 6r80 with clutches and planetary gear . Lund tune /3.31 rear . I have a meth kit for cooling but it was not used that day . I stayed on the 2 step very briefly and I doubt it built much boost (takes about 4 secs to see 4-5 psi ) . I have a trans brake set up but don’t feel comfortable using it yet.

Ran same tires 17/305/45 ET R’s both race star wheel .
Hellion car has weld skinnies in front and whipple car car 17x7 race stars.

The rubber was brand new on the Hellion car and ones on the 18 may be on their last legs and spun a little .

I ran the 18 earlier in the day when it was hotter out and the Hellion car later in the day …but still hot and humid out .

The Hellion car was hot lapped … after my Mechanic’s wife made her fist ever drag strip pass …she ran a 10.9 !— so car and tranny were still hot … but they were about to close .

take a stab at what slip goes with which car ?

I'll guess the 9.48 @ 151 is the Hellion car...

well if you have not guessed full slips below .

I ran the Hellion car previously with the matching Weld rears (ventura- poor man’s bead locks ) when a coupler blew off after the 1/8th . It would have been a faster 1/4 as the 1/8 trap was 4 mph higher .

I don’t think the bead locks are installed right as unable to balance the tires and it was vibrating so bad it may have lead to the coupler blowing off .
They look good though for the price .

The poor Fox coupe really wanted to come along to play ….
Hopefully a few more weeks for the Gen 2 being built by Fonzie to be ready …and I picked up an On3 single for her 😎.
She has a built TH400 and @1000 lbs lighter than the S550’s she better outrun both of them !

Hellion passes are on the lowest boost setting and peaked at 15 psi .
DA was close to 4000 ft !

@olaosunt , why are you hesitant to use the transbrake on the turbo car? Have you had problems with it in the past? I'm working on getting my transmission built now and will be using a 6rstager for the trans brake and bump. Just curious if I'm overlooking anything.

Mostly due to my inexperience… never used it before .
it’s the 2 relay and activated by a steering wheel button.

The 2 step is activated by the foot brake so I will have to coordinate the order I activate and release the 2 step/ the transbrake.

I think right now I have to activate the trans brake first then the 2 step … and release in that order … or may be the reverse ??🤔

it would be easier if both were tied into the button on the steering wheel so they are activated/released at the same time … but my mechanic has not figured out how to yet

OK, I see where your coming from.

I am going to put both my msd 2 step and transbrake on the steering wheel button so they will activate at the same time.

As you already know i am sure , that’s the “norm” these days and not that fast 🥺
Heck, there are Plenty of 8 second “street cars “ out here and even a few 7 sec cars .

True it is a wild place. Now i will say those 7 and 8 second "Street Cars" are not exactly what i would consider a street car. But i Hope to have a 9 second street car here myself soon.

Fast ass cars mang! Love it.

I'd like to add a Boss 302 or low mile gt350 to my garage alongside my '18.

Maybe go big single turbo on a boss along with a Magnum XL swap. Would be fun.

@80FoxCoupe has a pretty nice low 8 second street car … Seen the car in person and man it gorgeous… He may be giving up the street car like since he is going TH400 soon .
