Interesting day on the Dyno. Decided to run my boosted "5.2" S550 Mustang GT's back to back on the same dyno/same day .

KB car is a 2015 with BES built 5.2 . Bored and sleeved Gen 2 coyote block/Boss crank. Custom Ross 3.7 pistons(11:1 CR), Manley H rods/GT 350 heads with Ford racing cams . 3.2 Kenne Bell with 20 % OD ATI- 3.25 upper

Hellion car is a 2015 with RPG built 5.2. Non sleeved Gen 2 Voodoo block/Boss crank. Manley pistons(11:1 CR), Manley H tuff rods/GT 350 heads with Ford racing cams. Top mount Hellion Kit with 6266 BB precisions.

Gen 5 whipple car is a 2018 with Fonzie built 5.2 Non sleeved Gen 2 voodoo block/Boss crank. Mahle/voodoo pistons(12:1 CR), voodoo specific Manley rods/Stock Gen 3 heads/cams. Gen 5 whipple 20 % OD . 3.375 grip tech upper

All 3 cars had drag radials . The 2015's had heavy AMR wheels with 305/45/18 Nitto's and the 18 had lighter race stars with 275/40/17 M&H's.
The tires on the Hellion car were slipping badly on the dyno and possibly also on the KB car,

It would probably have been more interesting if I included the GT 350 /whipple but I recently had to go to a bigger pulley as my "kill" 2.75 grip tech was slipping and it may not have been able to compete.

Guess which car is what color graph LOL

My 20Gt350, Whipple, Whipple tune, was 752.
I added GT 350/whipple dyno graph from back in June so not quite apples to apples . 3. inch 6 rib . Something was also slipping on the dyno only have speed graph. I tried a 2.75 pulley but it would just throw the belt .
Red=Hellion
Blue = KB
Dark green = Gen 5 whipple
light green= GT350/Gen 3 whipple..

I reviewed the logs and the KB car was not adding the 5* of timing it normal does . Timing typically ramps quickly to 21* but it was a slow increase up to only 19 * on that pull .
All cars had pump E85(probably got some winter blend) and I noticed the KB car had the lowest content per the E85 gauge(The 18 had the highest content ) .
I think I am going to run it again with ignite just to see

Red is Hellion.

I canā€™t tell between the other two. Green made more power and torque with less boost, but I donā€™t know whether supercharger efficiency, heads/cam, or compression ratio were predominant.

I wonder if the gen 5 whipple would have gone higher if revved to 8k. I am making my peak power at 8k rpm on my gen 5 whippled gen 3 coyote. Do you have any dragy 60-130 or 100-150 comparisons of these setups, or 1/4 mile runs?

May be , but it looks like the power curves on the 18 had flattened at 7500 .
I also think the dyno reads boost higher . The E boost read peak boost @ 16 psi on the Hellion car . I only have the inaccurate eco boost gauge(for looks ) on the 18 but per whipple chart the 3.375 pulley should be making 20 psi , may be lower with headers(no cats ) . I canā€™t recall for sure what KBā€™s chart says the 3.25 should be making but I think it was lower than 22 .
So the dyno boost reading may be up to 3 psi higher

Regarding 1/4 mile times(no dragy), the Hellion car(6r80/3.31 rear) trapped 155 mph at this boost setting 2 years ago when I last ran it.

The KB car (Magnum XL /2.66/3.31 rear crossing traps in third) has trapped 149 mph with this pulley with a different but same spec motor .No passes with this motor and now 4.10 rear

No passes yet with this pulley/motor (10r80/3.15 rear) combo on the 18 . I did a couple of shake down passes with new motor this year with a 3.75 pulley and highest trap was 144 . If I extrapolate I assume it would trap at about 150 mph (hopefully more ) with this combo .
Plan is to go down to a 3 inch pulley in the future .

Fuel wise all , 4 cars have ID1300ā€™s . The Hellion/KB and GT 350 have a triple walbro/ 274pump set up (Fore in the Hellion /KB and division X hat in the GT 350 )

The 18 has the DWx 2 hat/pump and they be maxed as the flp was starting to dip / pulling less fuel per tune
On lower boost STFT are -10 but it was rising to -3 with this pulley . When I pulley down I have a triple pump Fore hat ready to go .

The 18 is PBD tuned and the others are Lund .

How do you find the 275/40/17 M&H's on the 18? Just wondering how they compare to the other setups with the taller tires. Thanks

I like them . I mistyped as they are actually 275/50ā€™s

They have a comparable ride to the 305/45 18 Nitto Rā€™s (Gen 1) and will hook on the street. I also have them in 325/45 17ā€˜s which are taller but also heavier .
I had them (275ā€™s) on the last pass made in this car and they did not spin. ... but 3.15 rear /Second gear leave/bigger pulley and crap 60 ft though.
I think the car would have run better /left harder with a first gear leave with that pulley /rear end but may have spun those tires -
I donā€™t know if they will hold with smaller pulley now even with a second gear leave but I doubt they will leaving in first gear

Plan next time out will be with the ET Rā€™s (305/45 17ā€™s) which are what I usually run at drag strip cause I know for sure they will hook .

Ah ok. I was wondering about that when I read your first post...I looked at the 275/50 M&Hs when I was shopping for a 28" tire. I ran 275/40/17 ET Street Rs last season and I had traction issues with them at the track and I'm in the 700-750 rwhp range. Was just wondering how you were getting the 40s to work with the extra 300hp lol. I picked up a set of 28x10x17 Hoosier DBRs for this season. Thanks

We will have to compare notes as I was going to run those hoosiers (Brand new / first time out) the last day off the season with this pulley combo /new tune (old tune with bigger pulley was shifting at 7000 rpm )
it was bright and sunny when I was heading out ..... but got rained out šŸ„ŗ.

Thank God I got to the track before it started to rain . I waited for hours for the roads to dry before I dared to drive home šŸ˜¬

Dope cars!

Just curious, why build 3 mustangs? Most people would consider one enough lmao.

Great comparison!
Glad I can still pick out the turbo powder curve.
That timing drop off on the turbo car will make a huge difference.
Still and again, VERY cool comparison same dyno same day!
