@zackmd1

You definitely always have something cooking in your garage, glad to see another build thread from you!!

This is cool. I had posted a thread a little ways back asking if anyone had swapped in a S550 dash/interior into an 2012-2014 S197. Here's that thread which had some info too:

Following your new build here - very interesting for sure and that was a steal for that S197, you essentially bought that S197 for "Fox" money... LOL

Have you considered using the 2018+ digital speedometer?

That is cool. Let me know how you get this done. I just got my hands on a sync 4 module but my car is a 17 and i read online that you need the modem to get the realtime traffic and for the nav to work. Programming is going to be the hard part as there really is no refference models for the mustang to get the programing from. I could be wrong
Also, did you have to trim the dash? I have seen some modders having to either trim the dash or widen the car but those are with the older 60's version cars. Yours looks like a more ground up build rather than a swap and hope it works, :like:
So the TCU is required if you hope to have functional built in navigation. With that said, wireless carplay will work without the TCU which is the main draw for me. I have the Sync 4 asbuilt database and a sync 3 asbuilt decoder so it should be fairly simple from a programming standpoint.

Thankfully I have been able to avoid any major trimming of the dash. The S197 is the same width as an S550 so the dash does fit between the doors without modification. I had to spend alot of time tweaking the placement though since it JUST fits between the door panels. There isn't more then a sheet of paper clearance between the door panels. This is due to the shape of the dash being different then the 06 so the dash "pockets" in the door panels do not exactly line up. 05-09 panels it is hardly noticeable but 10-14 panels are more pronounced pockets.

That is the plan! I will likely start off with an analog cluster for cost reasons but the intent will be to install the digital cluster.

Really wish you were doing video journals. That would be an awesome thing to watch. Please keep posting the updates. Can't wait

Not much eye candy this weekend. Pulled everything apart once again to prepare for final assembly. Cleaned and primed the floor to take care of some rust, painted the trans tunnel. Hope to start installing the body harness next weekend.

Love this project. I've always felt like a 2008 Bullitt with 2019 drivetrain and 2001's shade of DHG would be about as perfect a car as you could get, and probably as close looking to the original 68 as you can get today.

S550 steering shaft fits perfectly! I have two options for power steering since Ford narrowed the bolt spacing on the S550 rack meaning no direct swap. Option 1 is to try an S197 EPAS rack. Direct bolt in and from some swapping gen 2 coyotes into S197s, I know it turns on and provides assist. What I don’t know is if it is fully compatible with the steering feel and speed sensitive assist CAN messaging…. Option 2 and the one I am currently leaning towards is leaving it hydraulic. PBH makes a bracket to bolt an S197 pump directly to a coyote with no modifications in the same location as it would be on a 4.6 meaning all OEM lines would still work.
