What made you decide to go with the 40 sidewall?

I am looking to do a 285/40 19 square setup on 10 inch MRR FS01's (the MRR's fit). The OEM front diameter is 27.1 inch and rear is 27.7. If I went square with the 40 sidewall on 285, the diameter of the front and rear now becomes 28 inches.

I prefer this option the most as it
1) keeps a nice amount of sidewall for DD'ing (instead of a 20 inch rim). 20 inch rims really ruin ride.
2) the tread width is large (especially with the PSS, MUCH larger than the 35 series tire in the 285 size!)
3) weight of the rim and fatter tire is still less than the 20 inch rim and 35 series tire
4) and when I lower the car, this will reduce half of the lowering in the front (I need the ground clearance) as most staggered kits do 1 inch in the front at least. (ex: FRPP track springs or BMR handling ones)
5) There is also a good selection of tires in this size. I can use Michelin PSS OR Michelin AS3's (my preference due to weather here). Unlikely to be discontinued as its not an especially rare size.

Handling might be slightly softer over the OEM with the larger sidewall and I'm not sure if this will look good and clear the front wheel wells (it should).

Other options I considered but didnt go for:
- 285 square with 35 sidewall. Diameter now goes down to 26.9 inches, which is a almost an inch drop in the rear and .2 inch drop in the front over OEM. This essentially kills my ability to go for stiffer lowering springs down the line. The pros are the tires weigh 2 pounds less a piece.

- 285 front and 305 rears, 35 sidewall. Choice is REALLY limited on tires for the rear. I think only Michelin PSS.

- 285 front and 305 rears, 40 sidewall. Tire rack has no options for the rear. I see you have the Nitto, which wont work for me.

- 285 front and 315 rear, 35 sidewall. Too much under steer risk in this configuration. Hardly any tire options.

Mainly because it fills the well, and it was the better of the two options offered. However, once these wear, I'll be going with INVO's in 285/40 and 325/35. I like the NT05, but it was not the tire I wanted. Unfortunately, for the profile we need to fill the well, not much is offered in 19"

Anyone have the weight of Velgen VMB9's? 20x9 and 20x10.5 specifically?

Tried searching, didn't come up with anything.

Thicker hub on the front wheel is heavier than the extra inch in barrel thickness I guess.

19x9

19x9.5, you can see the dimensions in the casting numbers

Holly cow, considering the gtpp oem wheels which way 33 lbs front and 34 lbs back, this is around 50lbs rotational weight savings! So how do we fit the 19.5 to the front?

You can add TSW Panorama RF 18x10.5 to the list. The offset is +27, so they poke out a little bit (wish they were +35). Haven't tried them on the rear yet, but fit the front great. Just enough brake clearance.

I had them on my 2013, but I don't remember the weight (I'd guess around 23-24lbs each).

EDIT: I just checked their website, and it looks like they are discontinued now... They have a few other 18x10.5 rotary forged wheels, but not sure on the fitment.

Thats super close on the inner barrel, how many mm is there between the barrel and the caliper bro?

At a certain point they may clear but if there is no room between the two its not really safe.

There is about 2mm space between the barrel and caliper. I know that is pretty close. But what are the risks with it being that close? I honestly don't know... Can rocks/debris get stuck in there?

They normally say 3 but u can do 2 mm. Well if it was any other wheel conatruction beside rotory or fully forged there would be a concer, with tsw i teust their quality.

I believe you would need a 5mm spacer, I don't remember 100%. Jason at getyourwheels sold me those wheels and I think that was what he told me
