Recently installed the RST clutch and lightened steel flywheel. First aftermarket clutch I've had. Very happy with it as a whole, I've put about 500 local traffic miles on it over the past 2 months, so I'm assuming it's broken in.. I'm not sure if this is normal, but if I'm in 2nd gear around 1800rpm, 20 mph, I get a buzz, (maybe chattering?) kind of sound for a second or two before I increase rpm's to over 2k . I can work around it by shifting from 1st to 2nd at higher rpm/mph, I do not get the noise. It's only at slow speeds that this happens. In neutral at idle it's very quiet, no chatter at all. Anyone else have this experience?

Keep the rpm's up, this is completely normal. You don't want to lug a clutch at low rpm's anyway because it will shed fibers and fail. I've dealt with this on Cummins engines in the past. They make great torque down low, but I stay out of that range for the good of the discs.

Yes, normal. It is just a habit of the twin disc clutch. I think it is a resonance of it. I just changed the way I drive my car and don't try to accelerate unless I am over 1700-1800 rpm.

Wait... this is considered acceptable for the RST?
Do the other brands do this also?

Keep the revs up a bit. It's easy to get used to and 5.0's like it up higher anyway.

my RST has a resonance at idle that irritates me.

Hate to dig up an old thread, but I'm ordering a clutch in the next week or so. This resonance everyone is experiencing, is it pretty consistent?

I've got north of 700whp but I baby the car. What I really need is stock manners. I'm leaning towards an RST but also thinking a good single disk might be an option and just put my stock clutch spring back in to help offset some of the pedal feel.

Thoughts?

The noise is very predictable. If you don’t want chattering, look at single disk options.
