PREFACE

A few of you actually reached out to me to state that I should put a build thread together so you guys can follow along. Not a YouTuber (yet?), Not a Celeb, just an office drone who drives to the office; and occasionally to Coffee and Cars type stuff.

HER NAME

Most of us love to name our cars. Whether it's Betsy or Old Faithful or The Black Mamba. We all love to anthropomorphize our rides. It shows we care and provides another outlet for our passions.

This particular car got the name "Ella". The great great great granddaughter of Eleanor, the 1967 GT500 from the movie Gone in 60 Seconds. Yes, I'm a huge fan of that movie Gone in 60 Seconds with a still-hot Angelina Jolie and some other guy with the last name Cage.

If you look up the name on Google you get this....

Some sources say the name comes from an old German word alia, meaning "all," or alja meaning "other," while others point to modern Hebrew, where Ella means "goddess," and also "terebinth tree." And Ella is a Spanish personal pronoun meaning "she" and "her." Ella is most commonly pronounced "el-luh."

IN THE BEGINNING

So in the summer of 2021, I was looking for a Mustang GT. I wanted all the amenities. Having come from Mercedes I had gotten soft and old and used to certain standards and comfort levels. Extremely difficult to find. There were some black ones out there but I knew how hard those were to keep clean and black is a very common colour Mustang here where I live. Carbonized Grey reminded me a little of Eleanor (2000 Gone in 60 Seconds) and I also saw a Hennessy Mustang in this colour that just made me pause and say "That's the one".

I wanted to purchase from a local dealership however they didn't have anything on the lot. They were going to look into Dealer Trades within the area they can operate but they couldn't find what I was looking for. Either they didn't have B&O, didn't have Magneride, were 6-speed or just the wrong colour. It wasn't "The One". They stated they could put me on the order list but that didn't open until maybe October 2021.

I took matters into my own hands and went onto Auto Trader.

Within days I found the exact one I was looking for at a dealership exactly 3278km away.

I called them up and asked if they shipped to Toronto and they said "Mustangs? Yeah we have in the past". My response was "Congrats, you just sold the carbonized grey GT in your showroom" (shoutout to Integrity Ford in Carstairs, Alberta).

This is her when she was waiting to be adopted.

It took a week or so to get the detail finalized however the Dealership took care of everything and even arranged for Covered Transpo. It was going to arrive the next week.

She arrived on September 2nd, 2021 on the back of the covered hauler (shoutout to Thorsons)

HOW SHE LOOKS TODAY

I learned the hard way that dealership Ceramic typically is not the best. So it did cost me a fair bit but I had a local Tint/Vinyl/PPF and Ceramic Coating company reapply the ceramic as well as a full PPF on the front 1/3 of the car (including a-pillars). If you are in the Mississauga area I highly recommend Tint World Ask for Liz. Tint World even did me a solid and found me a guy that could install the Big Worm Graphix stripes; BTW. Big Worm is a great company to deal with. They even shipped me extra just in case I needed it.

It's Amazon Prime day so I ordered some Ford Performance Hood Struts to see if this will help add some rigidity to the GT500 hood flutter/waves that I get.

Looks like it's arriving sometime between now and the second coming of Christ.

Thanks @DFB5.0 Yeah, the colour really seemed to change after the application of the Ceramic and PPF. Looks like a different car almost.

Today, my new toys arrived and installation is next week unless I decide to F with it myself this weekend LOL

This is the kit I use to wash her. No foam cannons (yet). No fancy stuff. Just two buckets and some products that I stole out of @DFB5.0 cabinet when he wasn't looking.
  • P&S Brake Buster for my rims and tires
  • CarPro Perl for my tire dressing
  • CarPro Reset for my soap
  • Stoners Invisible Glass for my windows and mirrors

The Nitto NT555 RII arrived today; will need to book an appointment at a local shop to have G2 on the rear swapped.

BIG tires and yeah you can tell the compound is softer.

I bet these make it 10,000-12,000km before needing to be replaced.

Thanks to @beefcake for a great deal on the UPR Dual Catch Can kit for the Roush. That'll arrive before the SC for sure but at least I'll have it!

A local Ford dealership stated they could install the Catch Cans so we will see if their quote matches that of another Ford Dealership a little further away.

Looks like Meadowvale Ford is going to match Eastgate's price on the Roush Phase 2 kit and labour so I'll be dropping off a cheque tomorrow morning for the Roush Phase 2 + Coil Covers. Then the 5 week(ish) wait begins.

She's currently in the shop getting the Roush Phase 2 installed (full kit with upgraded coolers). Should have her back tomorrow and then the fun begins.

Couple more days I guess; they have had to go back and forth with Roush on a couple of things but I'd rather they take their time and make it perfect instead of rushing it and resulting in a grenade with wheels. Plus the dealership put me in a late model Ford Escape Titanium so I can get my butt around.

The main gentleman working on this seems to know his stuff so that's good. We'll see how the end result turns out.

The installers are having an issue while trying to load the new programming (tune?) onto the car after the Roush install. I'm guessing they are waiting for Roush to reach out and provide some assistance on this. Frustrating however I'm glad that they are taking their time to make this really bulletproof and not just slamming it in and moving on.
