Yeah, including hail dent in the title is a bit ominous, I know

So, hi all. Been reading this forum for months as I've been prepping to buy a new GT350. Lots of great info that has been very helpful (and has resulted in me having a long, expensive intended mods list, d'oh!). I have finally pulled the trigger, and I was able to buy a new '20 GT350 (L0424) for MSRP, Oxford White with black stripes, tech package, sofa seats, and carbon fiber dash. I located the car in OKC using the handy dandy google docs spreadsheet, Autotrader, and lots of phone calls. There are very few new Oxford White cars remaining, and I had more than one I called about that "just sold." One impact was that I really wanted blue stripes, but nothing was available, so switching them out with Big Worm Graphix replacements will be an early mod. Another was more interesting - this car was apparently built over a year ago. The dealer wasn't able to (willing to?) tell me anything about it's history, but it's a different dealership than was listed in the spreadsheet. Why it went unsold so long and switched dealers is a mystery.

Being that I'm in Nashville, I arranged everything by phone and flew out Saturday with my daughter to inspect and buy the vehicle and have a daddy-daughter road trip home. Paperwork at the dealer went smoothly, but I found a couple of things on inspection. First, given the vehicle's unsold time, I wanted to be sure it had no lot rot. Inspection went well, vehicle started easily, no low battery, no sign of bad gas or dried out seals, no flat spots on the tires. The first thing I did find was that underhood was very dirty. It certainly appears this sat outside and got some Oklahoma dirt blown into the gaps. I had them clean out the engine compartment and will need to do the same with the door jambs and around the edges of the trunk. The second was a bigger concern - several small hail dents. A couple on the hood on the stripes, at least one on the roof, and a small cluster on the trunk. Somebody who wasn't looking carefully wouldn't have noticed (which I'm sure they were counting on). On pointing them out, they very quickly agreed that they would pay for the shop of my choice to do PDR for all they find and I got that in writing, so ok. So, first questions are about this. First, anybody know or recommend a good body shop in middle TN? I will likely talk to them about other things as well like paint correction and PPF. Is there any reason I should be concerned that paintless dent removal will be insufficient to properly repair small dents?

Once settled on that, I asked the sales person about the owner's supplement and he was clueless there. Is this something I need to call Ford Performance to request, or will it auto-magically appear?

Finally, my daughter and I did get to have a lovely road trip home and very much enjoyed the car. In construction areas the famous tramlining was very evident, and I made it home just before cold weather hit and brought a little snow here. So, my next task is to swap out the tires for something cold-weather friendly. I've read up on the various threads and since I won't be driving in ice/snow (the old F250 is for that), I'm looking to put Pilot A/S 3+ on all four corners. The only question I have is whether to go with 275/40 or 285/35 sizing. The former will give me less tread width and slightly taller effective gearing, the latter a touch more width but slightly shorter gearing vs stock (though not to R-spec levels).

In any case, I'm very excited to finally get this vehicle and will update occasionally as I mod. Thanks for all the knowledge already shared in this forum and any thoughts on the above. Here she is in her first stock photos in OKC.

Congrats on the new ride..Love the color combo. I wouldn’t be too concerned about the dents. A good shop should be able to make those disappear. My wife’s Escape had over 60 dents from a hail storm and after dent removal there was no evidence that they had ever been there. As long as there is no paint damage you should be fine.

I think you need to call FP and request you owner supplement in order to get it.

Congrats, welcome and enjoy the amazing vehicle. The father-daughter road trip is golden. The owners supplement should show up - as long as you're the first owner of record. My HEP took more than 90 days. After 8 weeks, I'd send FP and email (they aren't taking calls now) and check on it.

Glad to hear that.

I'll give them some time and see what happens, then. Yes, the road trip was a great experience. Now for more trips with the other kids!

On the tires, anybody have thoughts on 275/40 vs 285/35?

Welcome to the dark side. Car looks great including the black stripes. Regarding PDR, I had a couple small dents on the roof when I took delivery (bought the car in KS and live in TX so delivery was when it came off the transport I arranged) and a quality local PDR guy got them out. The key is to find the quality PDR in your area. Again....congrats and enjoy the ride.

2017 GT350 now gone to a great home.
Don't the pdr guys just heat up those type of small hail dents and they level out?

I needed to remove small dent on the hood of my other car. The guy came in the van to my office. He had a bunch of different tools like long and short rods. I gave him a key and after about an hour he fixed my and two my other coworkers cars. The two most common paintless dent removal methods are firstly using metal rods to manipulate the panel and secondly using a pulling method. The PDR technician uses specialist tools to repair the damage by gently massaging the dent out from beneath the panel.

A couple of the hail dents are on the hood stripes - any risk to those?

The one thing you don't want to do is damage the stripes. A quick search of the cost to replace with OEM will have you running to the puke bucket. They are extremely expensive

Yes, I'm familiar with the pricing as I plan to change my stripe color. For the price of OEM stripe replacement I'd lean to just getting painted stripes instead. Given that I want to change colors, I'm actually hoping there's risk to the stripes. The dealership will pay for the repairs, and I'd happily take the cost of OEM stripe replacement on the hood and parlay it into re-striping the whole car with Big Worm Graphix stripes. However, if there's no damage to the stripes, c'est la vie and I'm on my own nickel there.

Just stick with the PS4s if you are not going to drive in snow or cold rain. I run mine year round now after venturing into the AS3s for a few years. They don’t feel nearly as good in warmer temps and numb the steering down considerably.

Just use the tire pressure monitor to see how warm the tires are when driving.
Are you driving the PS4S in sub-45* weather? Michelin says the same about them as the SC2s, that they shouldn't be used below 45* and if they get below 20* they should warm up for 24 hours before use or they may crack.

I am planning to get PS4S for summer tires on another set of wheels, so the A/S 3+ would only get used in the winter alleviating the concern about their warmer temp behavior.

As said in another post you will receive the owners supplement in a few weeks. The salesman in most cases don't know about the fact you get it or that there is even such a thing. I don't know the particulars but after car is sold then Ford Performance sends it out.
