Can't wait to see the S550 in the new show... The Hamster seems to approve.

A little bit of muscle: Richard Hammond cruises through London in 155mph Ford Mustang GT for Amazon Prime show... as Top Gear announces new complete line-up

He and his co-presenters, Jeremy Clarkson and James May, might be outnumbered when it comes to the number of presenters they're going up against when it comes to former show, Top Gear.

But if Richard Hammond was worried about battling for viewer ratings with the BBC when the trios new Amazon Prime shows hits screens, he didn't show it when he cruised through London on Thursday in the impressive new Ford Mustang

Clearly delighted to be behind the wheel of the brand-new 155mph muscle car, the 46-year-old presenter couldn't keep a smile off his face as he filmed a segment in the sporty motor.

A little bit of muscle: Clearly delighted to be behind the wheel of the brand-new 155mph muscle car, the 46-year-old presenter and journalist couldn't keep a smile off his face as he filmed a segment in the sporty motor

Obviously sticking to their guns when it comes to the format of their new car show, Richard (affectionately known by fans as Hamster) and the crew chose to role the car through central London in a grand-standing way.

Accompanied by a police motorbike escort the crew filmed Richard revving and roaring his way through Westminster, and past the iconic Houses of Parliament.

Testing out the 2016 GT Coupe model, the presenter was treated to all the grunt and roar that the car's 5.0litre V8 engine could unleash.

Moving on: His appearance came just hours after former show Top Gear announced a brand new seven-person line-up to replace Hammond and his colleagues Jeremy Clarkson and James May

Climbing into the car, which is the first generation of the iconic muscle car to come in right-hand drive, Richard could barely contain his glee.

Sporting his familiar long dark hair in a sweeping side-parting, the Birmingham-born presenter also sported a groomed beard.

And it's little wonder that Richard was so delighted, as the presenter has never been shy of admitting his 'love for the Stang' - especially on Top Gear.

An eye-grabbing spectacle: Accompanied by a police motorbike escort the crew filmed Richard revving and roaring his way through Westminster, and past the iconic Houses of Parliament

However it looked as though the presenter was more than pleased with his latest test-drive, as according to AutoExpress.co.uk the car packs quite the punch.

Clearly keen to bring the spirit of its' petrol-guzzling, tire-burning predecessor's to European shores, the car has an astonishing 412bhp - while it squeals from 0-62mph in a blistering 4.8 seconds.

Leaving passers-by and the crew in no doubt what his feelings were towards the new GT model, Richard flashed a thumbs-up from the driving seat at one-point.

And if the announcement of the new-look Top Gear's new cast - which was announced only hours before hand - had affected him in anyway, the popular presenter didn't let it show.

Always peed me off that in the news segment of Top Gear they briefly mentioned the coming of the Mustang to the UK and Hammond quickly dismissed it as it would be RHD.

They then went on about some other ludicrously expensive bollox that no one could possibly afford.

'I'M GOING TO THE BLOODY PUB!!'

In all fairness, it is a little ridiculous when American cars try to be something they're not. But to me the S550 doesn't quite go that far. The Probe - now THERE's an example of when this sort of thinking goes spectacularly wrong.

The Probe GT was one of the best looking Fords out of the 90s! The Mazda MX6 had nothing on the Probe being they were the same car literally...

Can't wait for the new show. I might switch to Amazon Prime just for the show.

Hammond always put out that he liked the mustangs, but the show as a whole always seemed generally down on them and american cars in general. I would like to see how they portray this one and I may also look into amazon prime just for this.

"When American cars try to be something they're not".

Those kind of snobby comments are always funny to me. In the 60's Ford beat the hell out of anything in Europe. That was being something they're not. It is old thinking and overused.

I can't wait for the new Amazon show. Eh, I don't have high hopes for the new Top Gear crew. The only two people I approve of are Chris Harris and Sabine Schmitz. Having 6 people (+ Stig) is just way too much. Honestly what made Top Gear popular was the chemistry between the trio (Clarkson, May, Hammond). They could make a show about anything and I'd watch it!

You're exactly right. Most Europeans and Brits still think all of our cars are close to what they were in the 70's, which hasn't been true for a long time. The old "may be fast in a straight line, but can't turn", "unreliable", "cheap interior", stereotypes are still believed in many circles. (to be fair, the cheap interior one was arguably true up until the mid 00's or so!)

Still love always loved Top Gear though. A lot of their 'snobby' comments are more "cheeky" than serious critiques, and were a big part of why so many loved the show. They were also always equal opportunity offenders as well.

Clarkson, Hammond and May. There's three guys I can't be @rsed with. Evans, Le Blanc and Irvine. There's another three. Old Top Gear latterly wasn't a motoring show, it was a comedy for those with a particular sense of humour. I assume they'll take that "winning formula" to Amazon and with the budget they've got I'm surprised they're bothering with cars costing a mere ÂŁ35k. No idea what new Top Gear will be but I'd fear for it. If I cared.

Just my 2 cents.

Let's be fair -- the "cheap interior" bit is still true on base Mustangs.

Ask me how I know. . .
