So I replaced my center speaker with a Polk db351. Had to modify the grill a bit but I am very happy with the speaker. Thanks to @Chef_jpd for the referral.

Odd thing is that my bass coming from the doors seems better. Is that just because the noise is cleaned up, or is it because somehow that speaker isn't using the low signal(used the bass blocker) and there is more for the doors?

Sorry if its a noob question! lol
Seems like it could be a little bit of psychoacoustic foolery going on... since the original center channel is just a full-range speaker it probably doesn't play as high as the new Polks play because they have a tweeter. So, more high frequencies coming from the dash only makes it seem like there is more bass coming from the doors because your soundstage has been raised.

Did you guys cut the tweeter wires or use as is? Seems like an extra tweeter might create harshness/imbalance. Stock center is woofer only, not coax, correct?

I did not. Stock speaker is coax, domed paper tweet.

I did not install the base blocker yet, still need to evaluate if its needed or not. Sounds good to me without it so far.

I would suggest wiring as is, and using the bass blocker.

Or maybe just add a bass blocker from crutchfield? I had to do this on my previous DD since the bass was rattling the doors.

The Polk unit comes with one.

I'm suggesting a $5 solution to add one to the stock unit...
That could help but the stock speaker is really crap. If I am going in, I'd rather spend $25 on the Polk. It's a really nice improvement over stock.

Why stop there...do all the crappy stock speakers while you are at it.
I'm pretty happy with the 401a sound, especially with one seat back down.

Because bang for the buck your going to see the most benefit from that center speaker. I did end up doing the A pilar tweeters and sub as well but those upgrades didnt offer the marked improvement of the center speaker.

If your happy with it leave well enough alone, but for those like that like to tinker without spending a lot of money this is a good upgrade.

So wait ... is the stock center speaker full range or coax?
Here's a pic.... on the back there is sticker with the Ford part# (FR3T-18808-BA) and 2 ohm/25W. I could not find any specs or any other info on this speaker.

Can I ask a few questions?

I have a Ecoboost Premium and I installed a JL SteathBox which made a huge improvement. The sub has a JL amp, but I didn7t touch any of the other speakers.

If I install this Polk, no need for an amp?
Just use the bass blocker and it's plug and play?

Also, this speaker will work on a 2018 too?
