How is the stock shift knob on S550s (2023 in this case) fastened? Is there some kind of threadlocker/adhesive?

I have a shift knob from a Gen 5 I'd like to install, and from what I've ascertained, this is 12mm x 1.25. What's the thread size/pitch on the 6th gen?

It seems to vary a bit from car to car, but mine was very tight.

I removed mine by hand but it took a lot of force, it probably would have been a bit easier to do if you weren't worried about the finish / keeping the original knob :like:

Is the threadlocker something like blue Loctite? Or is it elephant snot from hell?
If you're asking about removal I can't see using anything stronger than blue.
If you're asking for reinstall then Permatex is making a new(ish) color. Orange now has the strength of red but the same removability as blue.

funny story I used red loctite + a nyloc nut for my shift knob on my ecoboost, then when I had to put it to stock literally nothing would budge (using wrenches/pliers felt like I was going to break the shifter), so I had to use a propane torch inside the car and literally melt the nylon out of the nut :lipssealed:

Mine had blue locktite and I was able to twist it off by hand with some effort.

I had lucked out. Mine came off relatively easily by hand. Just put a little weight into it lol.

How about the metal collar/bolster below the stock shift knob. How is that attached?
