Removal of Gas tank.

I'm currently trying to take out the gas tank, and I've run into an issue trying to remove one of the electric connectors. This is on the passenger side and I believe it is the sending unit. There is a grey tab on the back by the wires that can be depressed. But it looks like something needs to be done with the two red tabs on the sides. I've tried to "fiddle" with them to no avail. Suggestions?
