Finally managed to make some time to give my pickup a good detailing, the poor girl sure needed it and the perfect opportunity to put the IK Foam Pro 12 through its paces.
I used Brake Buster in it diluted slightly to increase the amount of product, aired her up, and had a go. Foam was thicker than I expected and I liked being able to get up into the wheel wells surgically rather than using the cannon which gets foam all over the fenders if you're not careful.
With 50psi in the tank, I was able to do all four tires, wheels, and wheel wells..BUT, when I finished them I thought, was it worth the extra effort?
If I'm completely honest with myself, the answer is "no," it isn't worth it because: 1) of the extra work to get it out, load it up, then air it up and 2) The extra time. Oh well, good try I guess but since I regularly have to pitch a lawn sprayer due to chemical deterioration, the IK FP 12 will do nicely as the next replacement. <smile>
Moving on I gave her a thick coat of foam using OG's Decon Soap and again, I was impressed with the product.
I was going to use the new TRC wash pad but decided it was only going to be for Sarah..at least for now and instead used the OG mit (Sarah gets the OG pad ) <grin>. Rinsed then rinsed again using the CR Spotless further softened water at 600psi. Pulled her into the double bay and blew her off with the Max Blaster. (that little sumbitch makes me smile every time I use it.)
Then I did the interior followed by VRP on all the black trim including the four square meters of the folding bed cover. WHEW, that SOB is a bitch. Worse, being in the garage, I had to get up on the cover sitting "Indian style," (my apologies to the PC-centric crowd,) and duck my head to avoid hitting the garage door. <smile>
Next were the tires and I'm using up my stash of Perl only slightly diluted on the other two vehicles so I can eventually switch to OG's Tire Dressing for all of them.
The big Detail Factory brush is perfect for these much larger and smoother tires and I knocked them out in no time. As you can see, I get carried away and wind up with product all over the wheel. <laughing> I figure it's quicker to duit this way and then a quick wipe down with a "tire" towel.
Finally, I got out the new bottle of Reload 2.0, charged a new Kwazar bottle, and then read the directions. I was most surprised by the suggestion to let the product dwell for 30-60 seconds. But I did as directed and when I buffed with a new TRC towel, I was again surprised by how easy the remaining product came off. Felt like Bead Maker during and after and a definite improvement over Reload V1.
I never look forward to detailing the truck simply because it's so large and takes SO much time but, you gotta do what you gotta do and I pressed on. Probably took another two and a half to three hours to finish the topcoat but she sure looks more better.
