Ford issues safety recall for certain 2015-17 Ford Shelby GT350/R Mustang vehicles to replace engine oil cooler tube assembly

Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 8,000 2015-17 Ford Shelby GT350/R Mustang vehicles for potential oil leaks and to replace the engine oil cooler tube assembly. In affected vehicles, engine oil cooler tube assemblies may have insufficient crimps on the hose that could lead to a hose separation and an oil leak. Sudden loss of engine oil may result in engine failure, and – in the presence of an ignition source – could lead to a fire.

Ford is not aware of any fires, accidents or injuries associated with this issue.

Affected vehicles include certain 2015-17 Ford Shelby GT350/R Mustang vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, Feb. 24, 2015 to Aug. 30, 2016. There are approximately 8,026 vehicles affected, including 6,523 in the United States, 957 in Canada 346 in Mexico and 59 in federalized territories.

Dealers will replace the engine oil cooler tube assembly at no cost to the customer.

I don't think so, his was a failed retaining ring that let out a a blank off plug.

I think someone else on here did experience this failure though.

Correct, for any vehicle that falls under the recall we cannot even have them on display. That goes for all vehicles ordered arriving in that period also.

Also, customers have first dibs when parts are available for the repair so if they are limited it will push the sale dates back further.

So, this must be the reason for all those engine failures/oil leaks and that one GT350 that caught fire on the track while the guy was driving it.
I hope they get it all squared away for future buyers.

Edited to add: No surprise, I'm on the list too. Unless Ford is going to make my payments and tell me that it is not safe to drive it, I will continue with business as usual. I planned to track it in early December.

I will probably put it up on the race ramps and have a look to see what all the drama is about.

Just logged onto owner.ford.com and saw it listed for my car (it has my vin #). :( So if I understand correctly, there's no fix for this yet? Also, if that's the case, what happens if something does happen while waiting for this fix?
