I'm about to order some tires for a set of 20" Velgens. My question is I see people running a 35 series in front and 30 in rear when going to 20". Why? Why not 35 front and back? Was going to order 35 front and rear. Unless there is a reason I shouldn't...

Also forgot to add that I plan on springs as well. Nothing crazy 1" maybe 1.2" at most.

Im running 275/35 and 315/35s on my 20s and a lot of other people are too. Depending on your offset on the wheels, shouldnt be an issue

I didn't think I'd have any issues. Just wanted to check before I spend $1200+ on tires.

I think 305/35-20 looks the best, personally. Unfortunately, there are NO G'DAM OPTIONS in that size despite it being the correct-most size for a 11" wheel (technically). Apparently Firestone's Indy 500 tire is going to be available in 305/35-20 but I called both Firestone and Tire Rack and both of them haven't gotten back to me with regard to availability.

Basically, if you want the front and rear tires to be the same make/model, you have Cooper/Mickey Thompson and Pirelli (275 and 305) or Goodyear Eagle F1 and Pirelli and BFG All Seasons with ugly side walls (285 and 305). Neither of these I particularly want.

I was looking at the Michelin super sport as3. 295 rear and I think it was 275 front. It's a 10.5" rear wheel. I live in Washington state so I was looking for a tire I could use the 6+ months out of the year it's damp and below 50 degrees.

Easily a 275/35/20 & 295/35/20 can work

It depends on the person's personal preference and also on the tire brand and model they want.

You can go as wide as a 315/35/20 on the back if you want as well. If you are lowered you will just need to adjust the camber specs to ~-2 degrees.

That's what my set-up is, 275/35/20 front, and 295/35/20 in back. All 10" wide wheels, all +40 offset lowered on an Eibach Pro-kit. No rubbing anywhere.
