Don't mean to hijack the discussion, but I have a question for someone smarter than I regarding spare tires. I have a 2012 Boss 302 and I had purchased a spare tire package from Discount Tires consisting of an 18x8 Drag DR wheel and a 225/50R18 tire (with hub rings). I believe it’ll fit on the rear only (fortunately, I haven’t had to use it). I’ve ordered a Mach 1, which will have 275/40R19s on the rear. Any chance that the spare will fit on the Mach 1 too?

Hmmm. Let me throw something up for this with costs between the two, and 1 person vs 4...

Gents,

I want to be able to group buy this for you and save some bones. But it requires everyone getting the same wheel and the same color. Overall it will be easier for me and you guys just to grab one whenever you need it. The delta between the group buy and solo is only $100, and many not be worth the extra wait/management of money.

Lets call it $975 all in for only the single 20x8 wheel. That is any Monoblock or Track series wheel design in the color of your choosing. I do not think spending the extra for the Reserved/Precision series is worth it considering this is an emergency/temporary use item. I am willing to do any wheel for you, but think its better you save that cash. Of course, If you order a full set of wheels It is easier to further absorb the cost of the spare.

Hopefully this works for some, but if not I totally understand.

What happened to $850? I'm out at that price.

Terrance, are you saying if we just order one wheel it’s $975, but if a group of four people order a set the price is the as mentioned $850 each? That was the understanding I had before this post. I will find three other spare wheel buddies if that’s the case.

I finally got around to checking the Automotive Authority spare I have in my GT350 to see if it fits the GT500.
It nicely fits on the rear:

No way it will fit the front over those massive brakes.
To fit the rear, have to use the 1” spacer the wheel comes with to use on the front of the GT350. Need to use the spacer on the rear to clear the brake caliper which is quite thick.
I plan to put this one in the trunk well so I at least have a spare for the rear going to & from the track.
And yes, it fits the wheel well just fine:

Funny I asked them about this about a month ago and they told me it wouldn't, but they are planning to come out with one for the 500 this spring, so be on the look out, I am.

Finally finished my project I started a few weeks ago. Since my chosen tire size fits in the well but is still over the top of the well for height I wanted to secure it in better.

I bought some threaded rod and coupler and adapted the floor holder to the new spare.

I double nutted where I could (could not on the bottom side for clearance reasons and used blue thread locker.

the end result is an anchor that goes perfectly through the wheel with center cap removed.

I punched a whole in a microfiber to try and protect the wheel some and then put a wheel blanket cover it.

Put my Lloyds trunk mat down over the top of it and it’s ready to rock and roll. Easy removal for track days and an actual emergency when the spare might need to be used still.

a good size suitcase or 2 still fits over the top of the wheel in the trunk.

Nice work. I picked up some foam anti-fatigue mats that connect together to raise the floor enough to be flat again. I’ll just cut out the hole for the spare tire and now the trunk will be completely flat.

Otherwise I plan to do the same to the hold down to keep the tire in place.

Thanks for sharing.
