Anyone else has this? Only happens in 2nd gear, there is an annoying rattle coming most likely from the shifter knob itself or under the gear level. Would be great if a DIY solution is available, I wonder how hard is it to open up the gear lever? Maybe a few phelt tapes could fix it?

"Take it to the dealer" is going to be the response for pretty much any question you can come up with.

I will not take this car to the dealer, even for warranty service, unless it includes a major repair that I cannot do it myself. No way.

I think this can be fixed. I am looking for that other thread that shows the disassembly of the gear lever.

MCarsFan, do yourself a favor and get a MGW shifter.

Okay will look into it. Mine is not really a loud rattle but rather a little squeaky plastic rubbing/vibrating in the shift knob.

I wonder if the MGW is a DIY job? I cant remove the transmission

They have a video you can watch and see if you wanna tackle it or let someone else do it.

Agreed. If you're near MGW HQ in Georgia, the owner will install it for you (if you schedule in advance). It is a DIY job (there are videos on MGW's site) and you don't need to remove the transmission. I would rather not do it myself, though. I have an MGW - no rattles, no added NVH. Leagues better than factory. Steeda shifter is a good option, too - I think it's also easier to install.

I saw the video, looks like my ramps wont be high enough to reach there. Need to see if jack stands is high enough.

I have no problem paying someone to do this, I just dont trust anyone with this car because its so rare.

My rattle was terrible. Dealer replaced the shifter with the new revised one. It is silent. I never had any complaints with how it shifted before but the new one is significantly better.

I didn't know they made a revised shifter. When did you get yours replaced, and when was your car built ? Thx

My car was built in January. Replaced the shifter last week. The part # ends in D. The service advisor said original spec parts usually end in A. The first thing the tech said when he rolled up in my car was "this one shifts tighter." I was dubious until I drove it.
