I've had 5 Mustangs, V8, V6, and EcoBoost included. The most fun and reliable of them was the V6 with supercharger. It really doesn't matter what you drive, and the average person doesn't care whether it has a V8/V6/I4 - they just like the car.

And in my experience, most of the people who say "it has to have a V8" don't use that V8 to its full potential anyway. The car never sees a track, so they are reveling in their ability to get to the next stop light a half second quicker. Or they are driving a broken down Civic and saying "you should have the V8"

The EcoBoost is quite capable on the track. Sure my friend's Shelby will get away from me on the straight but in the turns we are tight together. And my friend with the GT has to give my EcoBoost the point by on the straights because I am pushing him coming out of the turn.

When I bought my 2019 I was looking for a GT, with performance pack, so that I had a little more power in the straights on the course. I couldn't find one optioned with what I wanted, but then came across the EcoBoost, with performance package and the "red package" with red Recaro's. It was priced comparable to the GT's I was finding, but with a lot more options on it.

it's always the driver that makes the difference. What's nice about the EB is that it teaches you to be a 'momentum' driver and much less a 'stomp on the gas when straight' driver.

All cars are momentum cars… at least if you care about lap times.

I had great fun with my EB convertible in Hawaii. Two weeks with that car convinced me it was time to get a Mustang after lusting for one since '79.

I did not notice any structural shaking folks complain about with Mustang convertibles. It seemed tightly built.

So in the spring of '19 I started to look at ordering an 2019 EB HP (before the 2020 HPP came out.) I was getting close to ordering but the dealer here in Salt Lake wanted to add about $1K in silly add ons. (I cannot recall all of them, but one was glass etching or some silly crap to prevent theft.) I told them politely I was not going to pay for any of that nonsense and they said, with a straight face, "We cannot sell any Mustangs without a glass etching theft protection package. It is a liability issue for our lawyers."

Well anyway, I walked. Then in summer of 2019 I started seeing articles about the HPP w/HP. So I test drove many different variations: EB, HPP, GT all with A10 and M6.

It was then I decided I wanted all the options except A10 and Recaros, and the HPP w/ HP fit the bill.

I really, really did like one V8 Mustang. The Bullitt. Loved the green. Those retro wheels. The white cue ball. No big ass spoiler. Clean. I really thought hard. But you know what I didn't like, and I know this is silly, I didn't like the Bullitt dog dish on the back panel and the big Bullitt steering wheel. To be very honest, if I could have deleted those two I might be driving a Bullitt.

It cracks me up when the v8 snobs say that Mustang should only come with a v8. The 4 and 6 cylinder cars is what keeps the Mustang going. I've had 4,6 and 8 cylinder Mustangs and have loved them all. As for the clown that thinks a 4 cylinder cheapens the brand I must laugh. I'TS A FORD lol. Now I must grab my GT/CS and tear thru the neighborhood at 7K pissing off all my neighbors. Have a great day folks.

My first Mustang was a 2016 V6, bought it in 2020 right before Covid hit. Prior to that I was almost exclusively GM for the prior 20+ years (had a Hyundai in there too which was an awful experience , never again with that brand). Bought the V6 first to make sure I really liked the platform before going to the GT (I did test drive a GT and EB as well, only things I didn’t like about the EB were the sound and the turbo lag). Loved the platform so much I ordered a GT last year and am now looking to add a Shelby. But the EB and V6 are really good in their own rights and I totally understand why so many people like them.

Exactly, as Vin Serento says, It's not the car you drive. It's the driver who's driving the car that's doing the driving

What does the eco boost sound like? Does it come with active exhaust? For me muscle/sports car says V8. I’m a dinosaur.

My HPP came with Active Exhaust. It does not sound like a V8, but I like how it sounds. On YouTube you can find clips of the HPP exhaust in different modes.

I don’t think you are a dinosaur. I think you like what you like. That’s cool.

I guess it all depends on your point of view. While I’m happy with my Ecoboost, I would never be happy with my Ferrari unless it was a front engine V12 (on the off chance I can ever afford one).

I was curious if anyone could explain the rationale for why someone would choose an Ecoboost HPP over a GT when the HPP appears to cost more than the GT yet the performance of the HPP seems to be much lower than the GT?

What am I missing?

Thanks.
In my case it's bc I got my 2020 Hpp w HP , active exhaust, magneride, 101A, w 4900 miles on it for $28,900. Couldnt get a spec'd out GT for anywhere near that price, and that pricew also happened to match my on hand funds and i bought it cash, so, no brainer in my case.

I also love rare car types and this has the Focus RS engine in it and comes with a Ford Performance tune. It's awesome in the 6 speed.
