The John Atzbach collection will be going on sale in July at Mecum auctions Indy. Some very nice cars.

A couple of the coolest cars in John's collection was him owning 2 of the 4 1966 GT350 convertibles with one painted in Ivy Green and the other in Sapphire Blue.

Both of these '66 GT350 convertibles were K code and automatic transmission cars and came with factory AC which is obviously very rare and unusual.

The only other 2 '66 convertibles were painted in Candy Apple Red and Springtime Yellow and were 4 speed cars.

With only the Ivy Green car going across the auction block I suggest that either John has held the Sapphire Blue GT350 back or has sold it within the last couple of years?

It will be very interesting to see what this car brings as it is a "No Reserve" car and with it being the first of the 4 convertibles built and the only one of the 4 cars that has it's original engine it should command a very nice hammer price!

I'm just curious...what does it take, besides A LOT of damn money, to even get your hands on some of these rides? My mind can't even process the income you'd have to have, the connections you'd have to have, and all the logistics involved to even get to this point. Like literally, I can't even fathom it.

@PP0001, the Ivy Green appears to have GT350H striping without the “H”, or did 65-66 non-Hertz GT350’s have gold stripes?

Of these 4 unique and very rare cars in question I have viewed 2 of them in person but have only seen pictures of the Yellow and Red cars but if I recall correctly all 4 cars came without an "H" in the Rocker Stripes.

I also seem to recall that 3 of these cars came with White Rocker Stripes and with only the Ivy Green car coming with Gold Rocker Stripes which of course is the car going across the auction block in July.

Should be a great time and hoping to be on the auction block when all of John's cars go across.

:)

If you dont have the funds then you needed to buy one back in the 60s. I went on a club cruise this past Sunday for some birthday's. Had about 18 cars. Quite a few shelby's and one of our club members showed up with the car below. He bought it 51 years ago, he is the 3rd owner of it. Says the car is just how he got it.
