Iā€™ve got about 8k miles in on mine with the street compound pads. The brakes have been superb. no dust, very little pad wear and only the occasional squeak. Modulation of the pedal is great and the steering feels so much lighter.

A more aggressive pad compound is needed for track use as the street compound is designed for less noise. You donā€™t get all the bite you normally want on track. They did well at Sonoma though.

Did you ever secure a driver for testing??
RB has had many laps in on their braking system across Camaro, Corvette, Mclaren, GT350, Mercedes, and BMW. Their production, components, compounds and engineering are legit. This is the same successful formula used in those applications but custom built for the GT500.

Here is a good review from one of the drivers racing these competitively in NASA

Letā€™s keep this thread alive, Iā€™m still on the fence regarding this upgrade but leaning far enough over to easily fall in.
I fell hard, and donā€™t want to get back up. Iā€™m going to swap to their calipers soon so I can use the more aggressive track compound pad.
Hit me up for forum pricing šŸ˜

But the point was were they tested to failure like the OEM brakes were tested by Ford? I already know the answer, it is no. I recall Billy Johnson offered himself up but the required materials (brakes, multiple sets of tires, etc) were not going to be made available.

Billy Johnson made it a point to warn me not to buy and use those brakes at my home track (Daytona) due to the extreme braking.

I know who I'm listening to when it comes to this.

Allan, not sure if your are looking at this upgrade for tracking your car or not but here is what I know. I won't be tracking my GT500 but have heard from others the OEM brakes work well in this regard. I have also heard the RB Carbon-Ceramic brake kits work well on the track too. I had a set on my Focus RS and did track that car and they were much better than OEM but then the OEM's were crap compared to the GT500's. I have two friends with Porsche's and they are also extremely happy with them.

Here is the thing with me, I bought them solely because I wanted to drop unsprung weight from those massive heavy iron rotors. I am all about handling and it made the GT500 feel so much lighter and more nimble. It is really hard to explain until you actually drop the 68 # that I did from the suspension and it completely changed the way the car drives for me. I also got a smoother ride going over irregular road surfaces. No more rusty looking rotors after washing the car and one of the best benefits for me is absolutely no brake dust.

Somewhere on this forum is a thread "Your Favorite Mod" and this was mine. I reviewed them in this post #903

I would love the no dust, or rusty rotors alone. The want is real, but my purse is empty.

After everything you have done to your car, I would imagine it might take some time to fill that purse up again. šŸ˜Š

The link I posted above wonā€™t work since Russā€™ Instagram is private.

Here is the braking system review from Russ Taylor. Currently competing and winning races in a Z28 in the NASA Super Touring (ST2) Series. A very experienced driver whoā€™s pedigree is built on the track. Here is his personal review of the brakes after competition use.

Russā€™ vehicle has also been featured in Matt Farahā€™s One Take with RB components. See the video below.

RB has been in the business of engineering and racing their components for years, with even heavier cars such as the GTR. Competition and amateur drivers have used and won with them. Once you get over the financial cost, the rest is proven. Anything else is hearsay without first hand experience.

Yes, I agree. If you are not going to push the brakes to the limit then sure why not?

Great cars and coffee conversation, but the man who developed our car gave words of caution until further testing was done.

The guy in the other posts did not test to fail, nor was he the development driver for the car.

So have at it, fork out those greenbacks. I wish the people at RB would have just put up and forked out the $$ to test and test to OEM standard. The last thing I want in the back of my mind is will my brakes work heading into a hairpin turn at 180 mph.
