Guess all people who buy the HP and want to really drive their car hard should invest in some form of rock chip protection for the sides with that front tire stance.
Not only if you drive the car hard ....

I would at least do the lower portions of the doors, rocker panels and rear fender in front and behind the rear wheel if anything.

The side stripes really get in the way of doing this. In the rear just behind the tire the Mach 1 appears to have the same black lip as the gt500. Wouldn’t that protect at least behind the tire? I can see needing to address in front of it though

I don’t think it matters how hard you drive your car, rocks are unavoidable

This.

I'm running a 285 front on my '15, and even with ZL1 Addons front rock guards my rear quarters are peppered with pinpoint-sized rock chips. I can only see them when I have my detailing lights on and am up close, but still.

If you're at all concerned, plan accordingly.

The additional lip on the front fender included with handling package isn't sufficient?

It’s not a mud flap so much as a small lip on the edge of the rear bumper. If you look at the pics and compare it to the gt500 it looks the same to me. I think it should deflect small rocks that the tires pick up but I don’t know for sure

PPF helps tremendously, my car looked like new when I sold it and it was driven all year round. Had PPF installed from the get go

I am borderline OCD so when I say it looked like new it looked like new :p

as mentioned it's the abbreviation for paint protection film.

I have it on my MX5 now as well and I do track the car and it is golden. It's expensive but worth it for the "right" car if that makes any sense.

There are multiple brands most used I would say are Xpel, Suntek and 3M. You can get full car, parts of the car, clear film, "stealth" film = for matte colors etc etc. Most important is the installer I would say and also the prep of the paint prior to insalling
