Quick E85 question

A station not to far from me (Pilot) started carrying E85. My car isn’t tuned for it yet but in the future I’m going to have a flex fuel tune. I only run 93 in my car but it’s approaching 3.00 a gallon here and E85 is 1.92. Is it okay if I run it without the tune? I realize minimal performance benefits will be realized until it’s tuned. Wanted to make sure the factory calibration will make the adjustments.

no you need at least a tune to run E85

Awww thought that might be the case. Wasn’t sure if the stock tune had fuel trims to run it safely without a tune like a flex fuel car.

3 to 4 gallons of E on stock tune will not hurt a thing. I logged it and you get more timing. Gas mileage will go down though.

The bigger question is, are you comfortable with toasting the power train portion of the factory warranty ? The PCM will date/milage stamp the change. Ford will find it, even if you were to change out the PCM like we used to do years ago.

Like others have said adding a few gallons of e85 won’t hurt. I add it to 87 octane in my ecoboost ranger. But unless you have a big supply of e85 on hand. The mixing will get tedious.

I thought so too and from what I’ve read I. The 15-17 yes but not on the 18+. The wideband o2’s do the work for you.

No need for a flex fuel sensor, I just slapped a tune from LUND on my 19 and fill up with E85.

15-17 do need bigger injectors I believe since there's no DI

The 21’s would just need a tune. I’m hearing the power train warranty could possibly be voided do to the reflash of the PCM
