Is it possible to permanently disable these features on the current Mustangs without having dash lights lit and/or having to use the menu every time you start the car?

Lane assist/alert can be turned off, it's the button on the end of the turn signal stalk.

Does it stay off permanently?

This is a serious question for me. I travel a good bit and get a fairly wide variety of rental cars, and there are few things that I find more annoying than a setting that doesnt stay changed after I've changed it. As a result of this control characteristic, I won't be buying another Challenger, and am thinking about returning to a Mustang....but not if it does the same thing.

I notice that there's no option to turn off "pre-collision assist". How do you disable it permanently?

"Assist" =/= "alert".

?IT Does WAY MORE THAN ASSIST.if you're not on you're brakes quick enough it'll stop the car..hetes explanation

The Pre-Collision Assist feature uses camera technology to detect a potential collision with a vehicle or pedestrian directly in front of yours during day or nighttime driving. * It can help reduce the severity of, and in some cases can eliminate, a frontal collision.10 If a potential collision is detected, an alert sound is emitted and a warning message displays in the message center. If your response is not sufficient, Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) will precharge and increase brake-assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you do brake. If you don’t take corrective action and a collision is imminent, brakes can apply automatically

Select Pre-Collision and it takes you to where you can uncheck and set alert sensitivity.

Vehicle height also messes with calibration of the system. Less an issue for a mustang, but be aware if you have to get your glass replaced they may not be able to certify the pre collision system if you’ve lowered your car.
If you’re lowered, the auto brakes may kick in at the wrong time.

Thank you - is that a permanent selection, or does it have to be re-set at every key cycle?

That's one good reason to permanently disable this function.

Honestly, I would pay extra to be able to buy a car without all of this nonsense.
