Let me start again.... I have a solid metal/acrylic Queensland prestige 'A' plate that is quite heavy (about 300grams), doesn't work with the Craigs bracket (too heavy), needs a lot of rework for the Lakin system, and doesn't bend to flex around the front bumper. It will need spacing leaving an increasing gap towards each end.
Ideas? Mount it on the factory plates brackets?

Has anyone successfully mounted these without extreme modification? I am surprised PPQ get away with selling these expensive plates with out disclosing all the details of design on the website. Who new!?

Picking up the car tomorrow - hopefully. Dealership won't let me bring the car home without plates on or a dealership plate. Must be sorted at the shop before driving home.

Just use double sided tape for the moment for mounting whatever you want to use at the moment. Don't drill holes. Take car home and then sort out what you want to install. Double sided tapes can be removed later, and quite strong these days to hold the plates or brackets, but you won't be able to get rid of the holes. Especially the screws used by Dealer are bigger than the one used with Lakin brackets. :)

Hi CrayonBox,

I have the QLD prestige plates also and was concerned about the weight of the front plate.

My dealer attached the rear plate directly to the car, and did not use the Ford supplied bracket.

We looked at the front slimline plate with the Ford bracket on the car, but it looked ridiculous. So we trimmed the lower half off the Ford bracket and fitted it using the the supplied hardware. It's acceptable but not perfect, and at some stage I will look at modifying something to be a bit neater.
