Pulled over for/gotten a ticket for stock GT350/R exhaust?

I saw this topic in the S550 general thread and I’ve always wondered if anyone has gotten pulled over or received a ticket even with the stock exhaust. Especially with the R. I live in Wisconsin, and am actually a prosecutor, so I know it wouldn’t hold up in court, but it would still be a hassle to fight the ticket. Just wondering of other peoples experiences. Again, I am only talking about stock exhaust.

Not yet, figure I will eventually though. When I go to visit fam where I grew up I know I'll be pulled over. I get pulled over there everytime I go anyway for no front plate, even though my state doesn't issue one. No front plate with valves open would be like a dinner bell. Just those guys there...

Most of the time, the police won't entertain your defenses at the time of the stop. They just write you the ticket and tell you to contest it in court. I don't think they will crawl under the car to see the stock exhaust.

There is no way not to fight that Ticket. I would hope someone would look at it and throw it out before Court. Like a savvy prosecutor

IMO, I would think they would rather take a few moments during the traffic stop to verify the exhaust rather than make a trip out to the courthouse for a hearing. A few seconds of extra work would save hours getting to and sitting in court only for the ticket to be thrown out.

Unless you want to jack up your GT350 at the side of the road I'm not sure how a PO would be able to see your exhaust well enough to know whether or not the exhaust is stock.

My friend got a warning last week for his 500 carbon while on a mountain road. Cop said originally he was going to write a ticket but then dropped it to a warning—for driving a car with a stock exhaust—um… yah.

I believe the police get overtime pay for court appearances. In my experience I have never not had a cop show for a ticket contest, but they also have always either dropped the ticket completely or reduced to the minimum.

I deal with police officers on a daily basis. Yes, they do get 2 hours minimum of overtime for showing up for court. At least the departments that I deal with.

You would think so, but in my experience, they just write the ticket and tell you to contest in court. They hear a lot of BS from people so it's just the easiest thing for them to do. They only show up for court if it actually goes all the way to trial.

If PO’s get a guaranteed 2hours OT to show themselves in court, I’d think the jurisdiction would want to make sure the tickets will stick. It could get real costly for said jurisdiction to not have that policy.
It’s been a real long time (40+years) since I’ve had a ticket....the officer did not show and the case was dropped. Paid a fee to go to trial and never got the fee refunded. What a racket that was.
Our local PD and Sheriff Dept are really cool about the whole noise, front license plate thing. They really put their resources towards important issues.
A jurisdiction that has a high murder rate and puts it resources towards fix it tickets is not a place I’d want to live.

2 hours overtime minimum just for showing up, hourly if you are there longer. Had one guy though put some work in on me, he kept rescheduling the court date, found out he called my office to "speak to me", whoever answered phone and told him the days I worked, so he then rescheduled it to a day I was off. It was the 3rd reschedule and I didn't get whim of the last rescheduling and he juked me.

got me good. I would of shown up otherwise. he got everything dropped if I recall, dont remember exactly. it really annoyed me though. keep in mind, these guys are literally repeat offenders for all the warning/fix it tickets.

We had a guy keep in mind its Alaska, and its dark half the year, this guy literally had, the blackest blackest BLACKEST tint literally looked like obsidian, ALL WAY AROUND his vehicle. You couldn't even see out of it in pure summer, let alone winter. I gave him a few warnings and hit him with fix it tickets, he would show up to the court/station and show it was removed, and drop ticket

day later, see his shit all tinted again, repeat several times. its so annoying. This particular kid was military and was a giant lifted white truck (also no mud flaps, and we use gravel instead of salt/etc) so hes breaking everyones windshields etc, black tail lights, headlights, all windows. and would fight tooth and nail claiming its his right, but its purely a safety issue. cant have that crap in Alaska.
