Be very careful. Any welding, to anything that might be considered structural, regardless of how minor, is considered structural damage. I had a Firebird TA suffer "frame damage" because a tab on the frame that the inner fender liner attaches to was broken and had to be repaired.

I concur with this if you need another opinion, definitely walk.
I'll give you yet another opinion of "pass". Not interested in anything that has been straightened personally. Whether it was done right or not, it is still not as strong as it was pre-impact.

It all comes down to how well the repair was done (likely well if at a dealer) and how the car drives.

Many people will go on about how they would never take a car with repairs, how it will never drive the same, and so on. My 335 was rear-ended on the highway a few years back. Took 2.5 months and $12,000 of the other driver's insurance company's money to fix, but the car drove as well as if it were new. Kept it for another 50,000 miles and was very happy with it.

Only had two issues:
  • It did take a hit on resale value (but you're on the right side of that transaction)
  • The body shop was unable to match the well known BMW orange peel effect in the paint.

Thanks guys, got ahold of the full repair order which the total was only $2500, was very clean and drove great so I bought it. Turns out it had a roush axleback, jlt intake and bama tuner in the glovebox so that was a bonus.

Thanks again for the help

In todays auto body repair world $2500 hardly amounts to anything at all.
My '12 edge caught an asphalt alligator in the front bumper. Needed a new bumper skin, headlight, fog light and a small section of grill and was very close to $2000.
Sounds like you found a fine deal.

No kidding. That OEM black plastic GT panel was $1,052.

I’m sure you will be happy with your new addition. That being said, very few people have a clue how well car’s can be repaired. I’m an old time body guy. Can’t even tell you how many “totals” I’ve done. Very few weren’t straighter when you put a tram gauge on them then they were from the factory originally. That’s not to say there aren’t lots of hacks out there, but there are some very good body guys around to.

That was cheaper than mine. It was $1,497.34 to replace mine. I kept mine and got the cash. Only had a tiny scratched that was caused by the wreck I had. $14k in repairs and the car looks and runs just as it did before.
