Wow. What are the seller fees?
The consignor fees typically consist of an initial entry fee that can range anywhere from $500 to $2000 per vehicle all depending on certain aspects such as whether you would like your vehicle displayed inside or outside but more importantly what day and time of the auction that you would like your car to cross the block.

Typically Friday and Saturday afternoons are considered prime time therefore the entry fees escalate accordingly.

In addition to the initial entry fee there is also a 10% commission that is assessed for any car that sells on the block.

If your car does not sell because it did not meet your set Reserve Price then the 10% sellers commission does not come into play.

When you take into consideration round trip travel expenses, hotel accommodations, meals, rental car, enclosed auto transport, initial auction entry fee and 10% sellers commissions you best be ready for a great deal of costs and hope that you have all your ducks in a row in order to either break even or hopefully turn a small profit.

Thanks guys. Iā€™m sure most of us didnā€™t know what these fees are.

Just curious as to what you base your comments on with respect to the 2016 MY not being desirable from an R model standpoint?

Was it not just a couple weeks ago that a 2016 R model sold for $93,500 OTD at the Mecum Auction in Tulsa which was ~$30,000 above the MSRP for that car?

How many Pony cars from the 2016 MY can say that they could be sold for ~46% above their suggested MSRP after that short period of time?

I suggest that any of the 6 model years for an R model are very desirable including the 2015 launch year and of course the final 2020 model year and would also suggest that the elusive 4 year run for the 135 Base R models would also fall into that very desirable category as well.

:sunglasses:
I didn't mean it in that way. Yes all model years are desirable for the GT350R. I meant that the 2016 model year isn't one of the most desirable years of the R. Going into last weekends BJ auction, the 2016's were averaging around 75k at auctions so far this year. This does not include the base model that sold for 93.5k as that is in it's own different category imo.

2016 is the 2nd year of production and all models have exhausted the factory warranty. The most desirable years will be the first and last years of production in that order. The other 4 years are up for grabs and as of now they are all somewhat close. 2018 and 2019's have been hovering at the 82-83k mark. And now the 2016 MY has joined the party at that range. The 2017 is doing the worst as no cars to my knowledge have sold at auction for over 80k this year.

If I had to guess, the 2019's will be a strong contender down the road as it has the proclaimed "gen2"engine", has less oil consumption issues, and has some cool extra features that the older models didn't have such as the carbon dash and puddle lamps, among others.

As for the remaining 3 MY, 2016 might take that one as they're only 526 R's made for the year making it the 2nd rarest MY behind 2015's.

Agreed and to your point about the 2016 R's it is interesting to note that the 2016 MY accounted for only ~14% of the total R model production over the 6 year production run but that same 2016 model year also accounted for close to 50% of the 4 year run of the Base R models.

I found it interesting to watch the Base R model production numbers decline for each of the 3 regular production years with 2016 producing 64 cars, then in 2017 production numbers dropped down to only 44 cars and finally in 2018 the assembly numbers dropped down to just 21 cars after which time production of the GT350 Base R model was discontinued premanently as of April 30, 2018.

$110,000 with the buyers fee.
Outstanding and based on my calculations the OTD price is $32,475 over MSRP.

Very impressive for a Pony Car and something that the Camaro and Challenger crowd could only dream of!!

After seeing this, part of me was like should I have sat my car after I bought it? Although I would probably want another one again, and there's nothing out there for 110K that I would want over this car. It's nice to see them go for these prices, but life is short and these cars are just too great not to drive and enjoy.

I change hobbies and interests a lot...but I always seem to come back to cars. Still, I'm not made of so much money that I can do everything I want at once ;) So...tempting to let one go to do the next thing....but when I come back to cars, what could I possibly replace this with? Nothing.

Here's the thing... No offense to anyone (I'm almost 48, so I call myself old) - but old guys and shelbys....they remember missing the boat once and not buying/keeping an original Shelby with 0 miles to retire on now, so many of these cars will sit in storage. What I'm saying is that there will always be some very very low/no mile cars available...and this will create a larger value delta between those cars and the ones that actually get driven.

I'm almost regretting selling mine. Love every car I currently own, but damn ...

Interesting to note that on the eBay listing the consignor states that this 2020 GT350 does "NOT" come with an existing warranty!

Suggest that the seller has no idea.

Lastly and not a big deal but AutoCheck shows this vehicle having 17 miles on it some 3 months ago and not the 6 miles as listed in the body of his ad stating "Only 6 Miles!"

Obviously the consignors attention to detail is not one of his/her strong suits based on stating that this "Vehicle does NOT have an existing warranty" and also providing incorrect mileage information no matter how small the difference in mileage is.

Iā€™m in-between cars

I donā€™t remember any focus on original Shelbyā€™s that are on the low mileageā€”the Competition models or the forerunner to our GT350R were hard driven and had many miles, what mattered is was it taken care of, or was it restored correctly, or in the case of the first 37, it was their improbable to history that mattered.

I think that right now we are seeing the low mileage versions flood the market, but down the roadā€”many will have miles and the focus will be on was the car taken care of. Does it have original paint, been in any accidents, etc..

A Ford GT is still a Ford GT no matter if it has a 20 miles or if it has 20,000. Our cars, are still a GT350R and if itā€™s taken care of, down the road I would expect it to still do good when this rush of almost zero mile cars is over.

I was at a show a week ago and there was a guy who had a 2000 Cobra R. The owner with his chest pumped out could cite the exact mileage of the car: 25.4 miles. He had owned the car for over two decades. When I heard that I didnā€™t say ā€œcoolā€œ, I thought what a wasteā€”two decades of ownership and he has no idea the spirit or the essence of the car.

If a car is at its most value when it is on a dealers showroom then we need to start a business where you pay a maintenance fee but never truly own the car. It stays in dealers hands and the car keeps that showroom zeal. Iā€™ve read articles that debate the prevalent buyers market that only values low mileage cars like they are paintings that instead being made of oil, drip oil, and that it is destroying the car community. Cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed.
