I have no relation to the person who posted this information, so I cannot speak to the validity, but I thought it was worth mentioning here because many have had to resort to an "other than stock" oil filter due to the shortage.

Apparently, this filter was installed by his dealer as get this, a stock filter, with stock oil. Well I guess he finally got his hands on some OEM filters and went to do an oil change and found the one they installed was not an OEM filter, and it was damaged. Supposedly only 600 miles of use....

I have no more information on the matter, I just wanted to share what I saw on Fakebook.

I searched the part number listed on the filter, and this is what I found it to be.

I like to disassemble things.
Now there's a warranty killer right there. Tom's been right all along.

Why would someone do this? I have provided for folks an avenue to get an OEM FL2087 via the link in the other thread. So far anyone who wants one or two can get them.

This story in this post is an example of what could happen if you go against the very (black and white) directions of the owners manual with direct implications to your engines warranty.

Go ahead and use whatever you want, just accept the consequences.

Edit:
I read it again and it appears the dealer did this without knowledge of the owner. I would call Ford right away and report this and demand some kind of action. It sucks what this has come to.

In the last pic u can see no metal sleeve.

The pump in this motor could suck a golf ball thru a garden hose!

The oil pump is blowing, not sucking. :lipssealed:

Need to see the other side of the filter to see if it was installed properly. At first blush, looks like another crushed filter.

Sucking? Blowing?

What does a hurricane and marriage have in common?

First there is a lot of sucking and blowing and then before you know it, the house is gone.

From the inside of the filters pont of view its sucking, which was my point regarding metal sleeve
Actually…..the oil pump sucks it from the oil pan and then blows it into the outside of the filter. 😂
The filter is after the pump. 😉

Does it matter if it's sucking or blowing? that filter was sucked or blown to death. It enjoyed it the entire time but now it is dead.
