I bought a spare tire from Auto Authority for my 2019 PP1. I couldn’t get it to fit flush in my trunk. It causes the carpeted panel to raise up slightly. I also can’t get the threaded rod with the plastic cap to tighten down to hold the spare down.

Anyone got any tips or suggestions?

Thanks.

I put the wheel in with the spokes upward. I didn’t want to flip it downward and scratch the spokes on the metal bottom.

Here's mine. Wash the tire as recommended, the mold release sticks and makes it difficult to get the tire properly seated.

Do you have a link to the spare tire?

The AA spare fits in my well (just), but it took a bit of thumping around the perimeter.

You can also check the pressure. You may need to bleed it down a bit (keep the portable pump behind the driver's seat to top it up if need be) to get it to sit all the way down. I've also heard of folks using a bit of cooking spray as a lubricant.

I wouldn't worry about scratches on the spare's spokes. Once it's in place it shouldn't be moving and, more importantly, it will hopefully never come out of the well for you to see any scratches. If it does, it won't be on the car long.

Thanks boB!!
boB,

Did you remove the threaded rod with the plastic cap that holds the tire down? It used to hold my inflator pump kit down. The Torin scissor jack I bought won't lay flat enough in the spare tire recess for my trunk panel to lay flat.

Any tips?

Thanks

If you need a longer rod, get some all thread and a coupler like I did to fit a full size spare. Yeah it sticks up, but so what?
It is covered by a spare tire cover and a black towel...

I secured the tire with a philips head screw and a piece of carpet runner underneath. The jack is wedged in with some foam pieces, it has not moved yet.

$400 for a spare tire!!! That's insane! There is nothing cheaper that clears the pp brembos?

Agreed.

I have a full size (PP1 front spec) spare in mine and would like my flat trunk floor back, but for as little as I drive it I can't rationalize the expense.
