Powerstop are better in every way. Hawk squealed more, dusted more and overall didnt last long. Z26 are practically silent, less dust, much better bite. I had to adjust my braking pressure after switching to the powerstop z26 because they bite harder. So in my opinion z26 are far superior. They are even better than the OEM ferrodo pads in my opinion. Similar bite but much less dust.

Did you just do the fronts, or all 4 corners?

Just fronts for now, ill do the rears when my OEM wear out. I also have baer eradispeed drilled and slotted rotors on all 4 corners. with the OEM brembo calipers.

I gotcha. I think your thread was the push I need to go ahead and order some. So tired of constant brake dust and I've been procrastinating doing the swap...

What's the coefficient friction average on the z26 pads, do you know? I've been looking at the DBA Xtreme Performance (XP) pads which are 0.45mu (GG) up to 550ºC (1022ºF).

I am also running the Z26 pads and could not be more pleased. Great bite, no dust and very reasonable in price.

Z26 bedded properly were noisy, don't grab the way the ferodos do.

I didnt bed mine, did you put the grease on the back of the pads? I just did my normal driving which is not normal driving braked down from like 150 a few times how I usually do. All good and no noise.

I used the Hawk FF semi-metallic pads on my Sebring with Slotted/Drilled rotors. They stopped great but make a lot of dust. They also don't last very long because the pads are so soft.

My last car I switched from Semi-metallic to ceramic and the braking performance degraded significantly. Both were FF friction codes. Less dust with the ceramic but significantly lower braking performance.

I'll check out the PowerStops when it's time for new pads. I'm not sold on the ceramics but if I can find a set that match the semi-metallic performance they'd be worth the effort.

Thanks for the tip.

I recently bought my son a 2008 GT Mustang as a father, son project car for the upcoming 16th birthday. The car had the Powerstop complete brake kit installed...front and rear rotors and pads, but the brake performance was very lackluster. Bled the brakes a couple of times which helped but still a lot to be desired. Just not good bite with a solid pedal. Pulled the pads and it had the Powerstop Z23 pads instead of the more agressive Z26 pads. Swapped in a set of the Z26 pads and gained an instant 25% increase in bite. Waaay better. The Z23 pads are focused more on long life instead of bite.

Interesting. I have the Z23 on my PP1. Swapped out the OEM pads that were on the Brembo calipers soon after taking delivery of the car. I hated the dust and how much they grabbed at the slightest touch of the brake pedal. I properly bedded the Z23's in and I have to say I am impressed with them. I didn't notice any loss in braking, almost non-existent dust, and no grabby, touchiness. They stop with nauseating force when required. Z23's are perfectly acceptable for the street. Sadly my car will never step tire onto a track as there are none around me. I'm guessing the Z23's on your 2008 were not bedded properly or were glazed. The Z26's are a level more than I would ever need.
