Post up your best car tips...It can be about car care, performance, etc...

I posted this in another thread...

Engine cleaning...A long time ago one of my friends that runs a detail shop told me to use engine cleaner every time or every other time I washed my car. I've been doing this process for years and its literally the best detail tip I've received. I hose down the car, cover the electrical parts and then spray down the engine with cleaner. I then wash my wheels and then go back to the engine and spray it down. I wipe the engine down with a rag after I've hosed it down. The process takes a total of three minutes.

On my current car my engine literally looks like it rolled off of the showroom floor. When I open my hood people are amazed at how well the engine looks. I've found that when your engine is immaculate the people that work on your car respect it more as well. I had a mechanic come out at the dealership and tell me that I really cared for my car and I've had service managers cut me slack on the warranty because the condition of the engine showed that I took care of my car...Its one of the best three minutes you can spend on your car every time you wash it. You have to start at the day of purchase because engine dirt builds up over time.

What do you use to cover the electrical components and which components do you cover?

Syran wrap with a little blue painters tape...All you are trying to do is keep water from directly hitting them. I've even used a rag in the past. The parts are meant to get wet just not blasted by a straight stream of water. I was very paranoid about it in the past but there really is no need.

Once you wipe off your engine, crank your car and let it run for a few minutes. I've used the expensive stuff and the advanced auto parts stuff. The cheap advanced auto parts stuff works perfectly.
