Hi there

Autobrite tyre gel just wipes off the velvet walls, however I had some Meguiars tyre endurance gel which works fine, apologies for the car being dirty but all I did this weekend was wash the wheels, tyres and exhaust. :D

I also moved the front wheel out 2mm more, gives the impression of arch gap by using some 5mm spacers I had instead of the 3mm as I got myself some longer GM studs which fit fine!

they are just 1/4" (6mm) shims. yes, they slide over the factory studs
As I discovered, 3mm is the maximum safe spacer on our cars due to them running M14 studs which call for a minimum of 7.5 full turns.

When I fitted 5mm spacer I could only get 6 full turns, a 3mm spacer gave me 7.5 turns.

So I got 10mm longer studs, now I can get 10 full turns on the lug nuts which is what the car has from factory. Of course wheel design can impact this as well but just make sure you have 7.5 turns to meet the safe specification of engagement on the M14 bolt.

I have 3 mm spacers. Is it not dangerous to do 6 mm? How much tread is left on the studs then?

You need 7.5 full turns on an M14 bolt minimum to be classed as safe and within specification, as such this meant 3mm was the largest spacer I could run with stock studs.

this is interesting. ive been running spacers on the car for 20,000 miles. probably a good 500 miles of hard canyon driving. maybe my wheel design allows for more penetration on the studs. hmm. next time I pull them off, i'll look at how many turns I have
