Motorcraft full syn oil and filter
Sponsored
Yeah, it seems so many vehicles today have plastic or metal panels underneath that have to be removed to get to the oil filter. I suppose it's somewhat for aerodynamics that may contribute a little to fuel economy.DIY Myself too. Just run up on the ramps. Slide under with a big pan and letter rip. Filter is a bit of a pain but not too bad. A little brake cleaner when I'm done to clean up and good to go. Dump 2 5 quart jugs in and on my way. Learned the hard way though. Make sure I haven't driven before starting. That oil gets HOT
Guess?
I'm turning 80 yrs old on September 29 and I still do most of my own work in the garage.

Total respect to you guys!Do it myself in the driveway on ramps.
I was 80 in July. Can't remember not changing it myself. Strongly agree with post #2. My 5.0 F150 is a pain getting the filter runoff out. EB Mustang not bad at all.
No more than I drive anymore, it's most often once a year for each one. Motorcraft filter & full synthetic oil.
Oil changed in my garage every 5K miles like clockwork on all my cars for 30 years, well over 100 times:Having experienced and heard of bad oil change experiences at car dealerships, I'm curious where you all go to have your oil changed...
I never knew that Autozone offered a used oil drop. I have to check that outOil changed in my garage every 5K miles like clockwork on all my cars for 30 years, well over 100 times:
Recurring costs:
$32 for (2) 5-quart jugs of Kirkland 5W-30 full synthetic
$12 for Motorcraft filter
$3 Ford twist-on drain plug
$1.16 per Miller Lite 16 oz can, ice cold, quantity varies
$0.22 dog pee pad
$0.10 pair of nitrile gloves
One-time costs:
$51 Rhino ramps, pair (car clears, not lowered, pricey race ramps unnecessary)
$16 pair of wheel chocks for rears
$11 for 16 qt drain pan
$6 oil filter wrench
Used oil dropped off at Autozone for free.
So about $48 per oil change.
I've been dropping my oil off at autozone for 23+ years now. Depending on the store, you either give them the containers of used oil for disposal, or you pour it yourself into the holding tank in the back of the store.I never knew that Autozone offered a used oil drop. I have to check that out
