Just doesn't get old. That's overdrive but the car has the power. Now I've heard that the ecoboost drivers shouldn't try it due to a high boost low rpm thing... but I love it.

My car has no power in 6th what speed are you passing at like 100?
But thats the nice part about our car, what gear should you choose to pass on the highway... your choice, anything from 3rd to 6th, just ask yourself, how quickly do you want to pass?

I was going 65 and was able to pass someone in the passing zone no problem. I went from 65 to about 80. But yeah the available range in this car is awesome. I will be going through town at 40 in 5th.

If you are already going faster than the car in front of you then overtaking in 6th gear is fine.
But if you going about the same speed or maybe even slower and want to overtake, it's best to downshift. Its also more fun to downshift.

Most of us EB guys downshift to 5th (or 4th) when passing to be safe. Personally I just keep an eye on the boost gauge and if I start getting into boost while passing in 6th I back off or downshift (if I haven't already).

I think the chances of our engines going boom due to LSPI are overstated, though. I could be wrong, but I don't think there has been a proven case of a 2.3L Stang kerploding due to LSPI, or at the very least it's probably limited to the early build engines which seem to be weaker. Having said that, I believe there have been some verified cases of 2015+ WRXs blowing up due to LSPI and their engines are somewhat similar (4-cyl, twin-scroll turbo, DI). I think Subaru even did a soft recall with a remapped ECU to fix the problem.

To be honest, although it is especially bad for turbo'd cars, hard acceleration when the engine isn't under any load isn't great even for NA cars.

When accelerating from 78mph to 79mph I find it best to do a 6-3 downshift.

That is a lot of load to place on this engine.

I never use 6th other than highway cruising. If I want to scoot, I downshift to 5th/4th depending RPM. Load is load, 6th gear is not meant for winding out.

I always go 6-5 or 6-4. Defintely bad for ecoboost owners but also for GT owners. The Coyote is not exactly a torque monster so you will definitely be putting alot of load on it, esp with the 3.31s

The point I was making was for me in this case it wasn't lugging the engine. I didn't even have to floor it. It took 20% throttle at most. That is why I love my car. In my Lightning (14 psi) I hit the o/d button before speeding up.
