Alright - Denso part number is 153400-8510/153400-9900 and related parts. Unfortunately it's not a direct bolt-in since it's also a spade connector for the 12v trigger and not a post. However, it's functionally the same. I'll just grab a couple of these and update to a spade connector on the 12v trigger since they're $30 vs. Ford's stupid $300 starter assembly.

If anyone finds a true replacement, please post it!

As a side note, I had ordered the Ford Performance High Torq Mini Starter (M-11000-C50) as a possible replacement. The solenoid is 100% the same, same motor as well, but the casing is different. It's missing the 4th mounting bolt on the back that goes to the motor mount.

Good find on the solenoid! Your research and info will definitley help others in the future.

Is there a way to create a ‘scoop’ to mount near the subframe that while in motion, will funnel cooler air over the starter solenoid and starter to prevent the heat soak and or premature failure of the solenoid?

What is happening to the internals of the failed solenoids that makes them stop working - have you opened one up? Is the heat melting or binding something inside of the solenoid?

Would it be possible to coat the header pipe and the starter with ceramic to cut heat transfer?

i haven’t opened it up. I’ll do that after this weekend to see what I can find out.

And the heat soak happens when you’re sitting with the engine hot, but it’s off. At least that’s my experience.

Both my starter and headers are heat wrapped. They’re just susceptible I think

Was thinking maybe ceramic would be better than wrap.

Great info Badger! I am on my fourth starter..i have been getting them from autozone..lifetime guarantee. They hate me...lol. availability is sketchy. Going to order some solenoids..i notice when my starter is going bad, charging voltage drops to battery voltage. My turbo flange keeps loosening on the track so it pumps hot exhaust right on it. Have wrap around both like you but too much heat. Changing header to more robust mounting than the 2 bolt flange, similar to fathouse's.

Ooof. I had a buddy that was trying to find the part # from the local parts store.

Do you happen to have the Autozone part # handy?

So...I forgot to mention this after my recent trackday.

Starter still works great when car is cool. Usually, I was coming off track, and parking it till my next session. Would always fire right up for that.

One session, I came straight off the track to get gas. When I went to restart it 10 min later, it wouldn't start. After cooling for 15 min it cranked right up. This happened one other time during the day.

I'm assuming this is a similar issue. Have people reached "stability" in how they address this problem? I'm still under warranty, but not sure how I'll reproduce the issue with them....

I had my starter replaced last year. Its been on track this year while weather was 50 degrees so I obviously didn't have any issues nor did it likely get hot enough. I'll tell you what I know atm, I got a heatshield that may or may not help this year during the summer. However, if it fails... I'll be going with the Denso part number is 153400-8510/153400-9900

I'm more convinced than ever this is a problem with the starter design. The wires "float" inside the housing and the Voodoo vibrations fray them until they fail. I think this is a wear item with the FPC. The Powermaster XS starter I ran is A LOT more robust, but I don't have enough FPC data to say it fixes the problem permanently.

Should I expect that my startup every time starter (except when cooking on track) is going to one day not start and replace it in advance?

Recently, I also replaced the oem starter with the Power master XS, because the solenoid fell off the oem starter. And today I could not start the car, the starter does not turn and I see the error p06e9. I assume that there was overheating, the temperature was about 77 and after the trip I stood in the underground parking lot with the engine running for about 15 minutes, turned off the car and tried to start it right away, but nothing happened. I hope when it cools down everything will be fine, I really believed that Power master would be more reliable than oem

Just as a check, check the nuts holding the cables to the starter. I've had mine vibrate loose before.
