Does anyone know if you can buy just the starter solenoid? So far I've burnt two out and would love to buy a couple instead of purchasing the entire starter. Anyone got a part #?

Continuing above - from what I’ve gathered, Ford doesn’t sell it separately.

I pulled it for inspection and see 07T16 05 on the casing. Cross referencing isn’t doing anything for me

According to one of my visits it was
Installed FR3Z 1102 D :Starter Motor Asy
Core Chg FR3Z 11002 D-C: FR3Z 11002 D - Core Charge

Those were all the referenced part numbers when they replaced mine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So it should be this, yes?

I got to say... I know a local guy who tracks his more than mine and he's gone through 3 already. He recently did the heat shield install which gave me the thought to due the same. I'm kind of annoyed they have the header that close to the starter.

That's the entire assembly - which is apparently on backorder with no ETA. Really just need a solenoid if I can find one (Ford apparently doesn't sell them separately).

Try a scrapyard, perhaps? If it's the same solenoid used on other Mustangs that may work.

COTA has some hills in the parking areas - not sure where they put you, but maybe just park the trailer at the top of a hill? Or make sure you have a push-start buddy riding shotgun for the weekend!

That wasn't helpful....hope you find what you need this week!

How about an Alternator / Starter rebuild shop ? Might be able to help you out with a part.

Is there any particular affinity for the OEM part in this case?

There are some pretty solid alternator manufacturers on the market. Denso, Mechman, Powermaster, etc.

Denso does a lot of the OEM part supply contracts, but sometimes Ford (and everyone really) ventures away and there's some really crappy ones too. Not sure who makes the motorcraft part.

This, find a local rebuilder and see if they will sell you parts. If not give me a PM and I'll contact the rebuilder I used to buy from and see what I can do.

I have a sneaky suspicion that a bunch of alternators that are sold as new are actually remanufactured or refurbished using core/recycle parts.

O/p after you get the part you need.
Make a duct out of thin sheet alum or steel and aim it at the starter solenoid, and the other end low enough to catch some airflow, and a small 12v fan for heat soak, when shut off/parked, with a switch or a timed relay.
THis will be cheaper in the long run than replacing the whole starter or just the solenoid in the long run.
If you can install a starter you can diy this duct/fan set up.
Good luck.

Okay, so I found a replacement solenoid that is identical except instead of a 3rd post for the trigger, it uses a spade style connector. I have that in the car now and it's working. It's part ZM 707. Pretty sure this is it NEW STARTER SOLENOID JOHN DEERE, KAWASAKI, KUBOTA 10-ND260 245-52009 ZM-707 | eBay

I have a Denso part coming that I think might actually be a direct replacement - i'll let you know once I get it.
