Hey guys,
2021 mustang GT w a Roush phase 2 blower on it w 16k miles, tripped a steady Check engine light yesterday, ford app issues notification "SERVICE ENGINE SOON WARNING, vehicle detected concern w catalytic converter"..
I pulled the codes and a P0430 appeared "CATALYST SYSTEM EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD (BANK 2) code..
What gives?? I've always fueled up w 93 octane, didn't beat on it at all recently, car felt a bit sluggish in all drive modes the last few days, but no CEL until yesterday.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated, I'm brining to dealer tomorrow, because I don't need any CAT issues..
Thanks Anthony

BANK 2 is what side cat?

Very common issue. Cat failed, drivers side.
Hey Mike,

Thanks for reply, damnnnn. Is driver side the usual suspect first to go? Hopefully dealer replaces w no issue, since I have the roush 3/36,000 warranty.
I had blower installed by dealer at 2K miles, I can't believe w so little miles this can happen??
Question, how is 2M fabrication or MAK for delete/bypass kits? Any opinion?

Thanks Anthony

Make sure you tell the dealer to contact Roush for the warranty work. Just had driver side Cat replaced on my 19 Roush. Very lucky in took one day to source new CAT and One Day to replace.

Drivers side usually goes first for whatever reason.

The cat is built into the header but it’s only about a 90 minute job to replace.

Unfortunately virtually all aftermarket solutions suck, including cat deletes and “antifoulers”.

Thanks for reply, I'm going baxk to my roush certified dealer who my original work. So shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully, anyhow...
I hope I am as lucky as you were. 🙏

Ty Mike, appreciate your reply.
Oh ok via 90 minute job!! What can we do to prevent them CATs from going?
Does the passenger side usually go shortly after or not? Or it's a coin toss..

Thanks Ant

Drivers side fails more often. I failed two ds before my first ps.

What to do to prevent it? The best solution I’ve found is to install gt500 cats.

I think the other side is p0420.

Im running gt500 cats now, but they’re far from bolt-in. Rather pricey too. You can look them up on Tasca or other for parts site; I think around $1700 each.

Update--> took car to dealer, about 35 miles driving distance.. I shut car off to go pee lol. And come back, start car and CEL is off.. wtf!?!? If it's a bad cat, should CEL stay ON?? or is it one of those ballbreaking sporadic things on and off, on and off...
They have car right now, checking it out. So we shall see the verdict, they pulled code, I told them car def lost power, was sluggish.
Thanks Anthony

Are cats needed if one doesn’t care about pollution/emissions testing? Different tune necessary if cats are deleted?

Really a different tune is needed but most tuners won’t do it anymore.
