Everyone is very excited about these events. Even though they are 1/8 mile and limited to 6.0 et they are sorely needed. It’s a more streetcar oriented event. There are people welding mufflers on their fender exit street cars as we speak haha.
Better than a drive to Atco or Epping, I guess. Also can't wait to see pics on the Instagram of a car with a muffler hanging off a door with zipties and the best that Home Depot has to offer. They were going to do something similar in Rhody with Quonset Point AFB, but neighbors voted against it, which is kinda dumb... they were fine with big airplanes in and out, but dragsters? NO SIR NOT HERE.
They are using the old Grumman airstrip and had to postpone it all due to nesting birds on the property. Lots of people came out against it. Last I heard no traction compound allowed due to environmental reasons. Hopefully the first year goes off without a hitch and the NIMBY crowd backs off a bit
