See the video! (I hope it uploads!)

Well we made the actual track out of wood and the copper rails are just copper stained glass hobby tape. The transformers and controller plugs were donated by Carrera Evolution parts.

My dad and I built this... 15ish years ago. Since then it has been moved into my new house and rebuilt to almost its former glory.

We prefer the Indy cars, and I particularly like to add my own wings and add weights in the right spots to improve handling. There are no magnets on this track. Its all tire, wing, and gravity providing the grip.
Thanks for the video. You have seen my track, but I don't have any videos. Are the cars 1/32 or 1/24?

Not on the same level as the above, but me and my brother were really into Scalextric in the early 80’s, and then stupidly sold the multiple sets and parts that we had (probably when we hit our teens).

Fast forward a few years (1996) and I got bought a the Escort Cosworth set which I still have today (generic photo) :

Well our youngest (8) had been asking me to dig it out and as the weather was bad, we’ve spent the afternoon playing … :sunglasses:

That got me searching for info on my old favourites, and I found this which has three different of them on the same page (I had all three red ones) :

That tempted me to browse eBay, and I’ve just snagged this :

Interestingly, the same seller has this …

I started with about 6 or 8 Scalextric cars. I still have the Mustang. I think slot car racing is much more popular in the UK than the US. I just received a car from a guy in the UK for a proxy race I'm hosting.

Well, tonight I have :
  • Burnt out the pinion on my white cosworth
  • Put new braids on the yellow cosworth
  • Started to refurbish the wheels from both cosworth’s
  • Bought this for its mint bumpers and chassis, so I can start to recreate my red car

What madness is this, and is it acceptable to blame it on you guys and this thread … :giggle:

I recently got involved with 1/14 scale tractor trailers. Wanted something to play with during the winter and evenings when I don't want to. wander down to the garage. I haven't played with R/C in decades. This is the first one...full electronics, lights, sound....

Pretty cool!!

So what radios/equipment are you using? What’s the capable speed without jack knifing?

It's a Tamiya Globe Liner kit, and Tamiya aluminum box trailer. The truck has a Beier SFR1 module that controls speed, lights and sound. The trailer has an IR module that reads through a TX in the fifth wheel to operate electric legs, lights, etc. The SFR1 is incredibly advanced.

The truck has low beams, high beams, foglights, turn signals, flashers, dome lights, reverse lights, servo operated fifth wheel, horns...tons of stuff.

Speed. The truck has a functional 3 speed transmission, and I swapped out the stock motor for one with more torque, less top end. Top speed is right at 100mph scale. I understand in stock spec - these will drag 55 pounds. They make big drop deck trailers, etc for these trucks. I'm working now on a roll back project that's surprisingly heavy...

I used some of my college financial aide to buy this Les Paul Deluxe new in 1975. Haven’t played in years but looking to start up again soon.

I'm a big fan of mini class cars, but good ones are hard to find. I think Ninco or Fly used to make a Mini Cooper, but I haven't seen one in about two years. I have the body of a Renault R5, but the chassis is crap. I also have a couple ScaleAuto MG Metros that are a lot of fun, but seriously over powered (long can, angle-winder). I have tried to find the SCX Fiat Abarth 600, but the only ones I have found are very expensive. I do have an NCR Abarth, though.

Well these aren’t the quickest of cars, but they are a lot of fun :sunglasses:

This one worked straight out of the wrapper, not bad for 42 years old and still on its original (now very hard and plasticky) tyres :

The motor has noticeably improved and so have the tyres - but it will get new tyres, bearings and braids :like:

The value of Norlin ear Gibsons is on the rise. Even the case is in great condition.
