Opinions Wanted Mickey Thompson Drag Radial R 275/40-17

I ran 325s on a 10.5 inch wheel on the boosted 15 GT. They did extremely well. In the summer heat they would hook at 22psi. And I’d lower the psi to 16 in the fall when the temps would get down in the low 40s. I don’t see why a 275 tire wouldn’t do well on an NA car.

I ran 11.92/118 on a 100% bone stock 2018 on P Zeros. 1.87 60' too.

I agree with a 275 or 26" tall sticky DR being well suited for an NA car, especially an Auto on stock converter. On stock tune, full interior, with only chrome bullets on 26" MT ET Streets, BMR CB010 + CB762, and front skinnies, I cut a 1.85 60' and ran 11.55 @ 121.5 in 250 DA (a bit of spin still). I was experimenting with air pressure and launch style but only got 2 runs in. In better air with rear seat and passenger seat removed, all else the same, ran best of 11.32 @ 123 with a 1.79 60'. Had air pressure at 16psi, launched at 2000 RPM.

If staying NA, I would prefer to stick to a shorter tire than going up to 305/28" tall. If I had FI plans, that would be a different story.

I don’t doubt that at all. I’ve always said (much to the dismay) of the people that can’t get a good launch In this section. That with a little practice. A very well prepped track. And a proper burnout. High 1.7s - low 1.8s are achievable On street tires. I’ve been told quite a few times that it’s not possible. And that the Mustang doesn’t make enough torque down low to produce those 60 results.

Proper gearing helps too. Mine has 3.55's which really helps when stock or N/A. My 340# weight doesn't help though....

+1 on the 3.55 gear, it's perfect for an NA A10 car. I'm sure it's great for a centri FI car too.

im told the 305/45/17 is the tire size to go with when you re FBO and on E85 but im doing well with a 305/35/18 which is a 26.6 inch tall tire so im wondering if ill gain by switching to the 305/45/17 or the 275/40/17

The M/T are pretty good but I found with these BF Goodrich I got better ET’s

Well it looks like they are now discontinued. That’s a shame, I was putting them on my purchase list for this summer.

3.15 or 3.55 gear? If 3.15, I would probably go with the 275s. If you have the 3.55, the taller 305s would be fine. I had a flex fuel tune in my 2018 and ran 275s. They hooked great and I ran mid 11s.
