Someone commented on my YouTube channel that Ford should offer this transmission in the rest of the Mustang lineup to include the GT and ecoboost Mustangs. I replied that it is too expensive of a tranny and would seriously drive up the price of the cheaper Mustangs. I had heard this thing costs $20k. It would be impossible to offer that in a cheap entry level Mustang.

It is an amazing piece of machinery though and with the ability to stay in boost while cracking-off shifts, it is a game changer!
$15792.00. so yeah, half of an ecoboost right there.

Retail cost. dealer cost is around 11k. I cant begin to guess what Ford pays for the unit.
When they order 5000 units from Tremec, I'm sure the cost to Ford is significantly less. They could offer it as an option. I just threw every option I could on a GT/vert, and they came out to about $58/61k respectively. Some of those options are pretty pricey as standalones:

Perf pack - $6500
Mangeride - $1700
401a - $2400
10R80 - $1600

Not too far fetched to think that they could slip the DCT in there:

Tremec 7-speed DCT - $9000

Even then it's still under the $70k base GT500, but not by much. And that's not even taking into account all the suspension and drivetrain differences.

You jackass. Rudolf Hess stole a nazi warplane, flew to Scotland, and tried to negotiate a peaceful end to WWII. IMHO he did something to stop a horrible war.

Why are you here stirring the pot? By definition, you are a troll. Keep it up.

I don't even know how to respond to this.

Hess's motives are still unknown to this day. We do know he was complicit in many of the atrocities committed both during and before the war. He was principle in Hitler's rise to power (if his own influence had waned by 1941). After the war, he was tried, and found guilty of war crimes during the Nuremberg Trials.

Why he flew to Scotland, we will likely never know. Even if the British had agreed with his proposals, he didn't have approval from Hitler. Any agreement made with Hess, would have been made with Hess alone. It is also very likely that he was mentally ill.

So, are you defending this guy? A literal, actual Nazi (not to mention Grammar Nazi)

No, I'm not defending this guy, I'm attacking a troll, such as yourself.

But it don't cost $20k more than original... and is 100% doable.

goose17,
after ford has gone to the trouble to make all things functional on the GT500 you went and added fake scoops on the rear quarter windows, how come?
you don't seem like the type.

Anything is “100% doable.” It will just raise the price of the lower end cars. The Mustang lineup offers buyers a variety… from entry level performance that is basically cheap to supercar level performance for much more money. If you take the high end parts and move them to the lower end offerings, it can push that car out of reach for some buyers. It would also water down the exclusivity the top dog Mustang owners have.

My car does not have a back seat. I like the look better without the quarter windows, so yes, I am the type.

I never have. They are blocked off on my 2011 as well. I angle my mirrors outward to see that area.

When my kids were little and sat back there, they could see out of them. My kids are in college now, so I don’t need those windows.
