17 5x114 found some old rims on for 80 a set. Will this fit on the rear of my base 18 gt?

As long as they are not the 17x10.5s you should be good. They stick Put a good amount and definitely throw rocks 7DAE3EC6-AE40-478B-8D2F-1FE8394516A4.jpeg

Will 17x8 work or does it have to be 17x9?

It depends on the tire you want to run. The narrower the wheel, the narrower the tire you can safely use. May also need to pay attention to offset and backspacing to know where it will be in relation to the wheel well. I mainly didn't want them to stick out past the fender edge and obviously it needed to clear the break calipers. I got lucky they they well since I already had them laying around.
