I genuinely believe that these individuals are feeding on us for demand and information. Its a shame. If you really think about it, the small profit you are going to make on a few filters is not worth being a scumbag.

It sure would be nice to cross reference these ebay vultures with a member here.

What really hits home is that I just posted how Tasca parts had this assembly in stock. I just got mine today, and all of a sudden there is one on ebay.

I am not sure if it has been noted but the 5.0 oil filter is also a problem. I was able to purchase the FL500s filter at auto zone and my dealer said they will youse it and there will be no problem with my warranty . Is there anything about a oil shortage as well?

Best thing would be not to buy from them and have them stuck with the filter and housing.
I bet they don’t have a car that needs it. That would be true justice.

I’m all for the legal point that if the attorney can argue the fact that Ford requires a specific part, FORD needs to provide it free of charge approach.

That would definitely get things moving with Ford. Until you can cost them money, they have absolutely no incentive to do a damn thing and probably won’t.

I spoke with a friend today who is an attorney and a car-nut... we spoke about the oil filter shortage of the FL-2087's. He does not have a Shelby, but indicated that he handled a case where a warranty was denied (non-Ford) for an engine failure reportedly due to a non-OEM part used. According to him and the legal ramblings of the Magnuson-Moss Act as well as some case references, if a manufacturer requires that the purchaser needs to buy the OEM replacement parts only, when aftermarket exists, then the manufacturer is required by law to to provide replacement parts at no cost to the original purchaser.

This is national, not local. I don't have the legal research data bases he does, but this interests me if he is correct. I shall research.

If no other source of a part exists, then the vehicle manufacturer must provide the part free of charge. Ask any owner of a 1997 Thunderbird with the 3.8L V-6 in need of a PCV valve. In fact, it was even stated in the owner’s manual.

While other oil filters claim to be compatible, we all know that they do not have the metal insert. Hence, they are not like-for-like replacements and, IMO, not compatible.

The GT500 oil filter has a metal inner mesh to resist collapse, I do not know of any alternative non-Ford replacement options.

I will post details if I hear of one, it would be appreciated if someone posts any they hear of as well.
